Free harbour parking, traffic noise

Very central location BUT no services at all. There is a public toilet in the Marina but it is a rather long walk. Bring paper. Shopping (with toilet) close by. Open 7-22

The surroundings are very modern, yet beautiful and hyggelig. Free, simple paved parking in an excellent location for visiting the city. A parking disc is mandatory!!! Quiet for its location. The Danes invest in free leisure facilities for their population. Like Germany before 2015. In Denmark, people get something back for their tax money.

Overnighting in an absolutely top location! A 3-minute walk to the new modern harbour district and the Nicolinehus food hall, with delicious food and a great Italian gelateria. Ten minutes to the old town. In high season, it is worth arriving here in the morning. The place was full around 2 p.m.

Simple asphalt-and-gravel parking by the harbour. The city centre is at most ten minutes away by bicycle. Nearby toilets in the Føtex supermarket and district-heating facility are closed at night or after the shops shut.

For a VW van with a pop-up roof, there are no problems, and of course the blue parking disc must be clearly visible. The parking lot is ugly, admittedly, but it is very convenient for the old town and the surrounding new districts.

Positive: not far from the centre. Negative: we barely slept because of the surrounding noise. Located next to a busy road with many cars and motorcycles. The parking lot itself is dirty and full of potholes. This does not stop overzealous parking wardens. We received a fine of 875 Danish kroner (€117) because our disc was not visible enough. Really disappointing that tourists are driven away by such harassment.

Attention! Place the parking disc on or in front of your windscreen. Otherwise, a €120 fine!! It is checked 6–7 times a day. A parking warden walks around all day!! The parking lot next to the camper area is paid parking. It is also very strictly monitored here!

A normal parking disc is perfectly fine, by the way, but according to security, VW buses are not supposed to park here. It doesn't make sense, but this is probably important information before you get a ticket :)

Regarding the contradictory reviews: this is a parking area for large motorhomes, and with a parking disc it is free for 24 hours. You are not allowed to stay longer. This really only applies to very large vehicles. VW buses and off-road vehicles with rooftop tents are not included and regularly receive fines of around €120. You can also spend the night there, and it is relatively quiet.

Above all, don't forget the parking disc! We have just received a fine of 875 DKK, or €116.

During the night of July 20–21, someone tried to steal the bicycles we were carrying on a rear bike rack. The cover was found open and tampered with. Fortunately, they did not succeed because we had good locks. It is appreciated that the service exists, but security failed.

Thanks to Aarhus for the free parking area. (Only for motorhomes; minibuses or cars with roof sleeping areas are not included and pay hefty fines of 875 DKK.) Right next to it is the harbour basin with fantastic modern architecture, a swimming pool and water-ski facility, great pubs and restaurants.

We did not sleep there, but we had the unpleasant surprise of receiving a fine even though our T6 van is certified as a VASP motorhome! We had also properly displayed the blue parking disc on arrival. The fine was issued only five hours later. In short, we have to appeal and hope they are honest! Otherwise, it is 875 DKK to pay!

Einfacher Teer/Schotterplatz am Hafen. Von dort in die Innenstadt max. 10 min mit dem Fahrrad. Die in der Nähe befindlichen Toileten im Fotex-Supermarkt und in der Fernwärmezentrale sind nachts bzw. nach Ladenschluss geschlossen !!! Simple gravel place near the Harbour. Max. 10 min. to the city center by bike. The nearby toilets at Fotex-Supermarket or the district heating are closing by night!!!

Three stars for the convenient location relative to the city centre and the fact that it is free. However, we did not find it safe. You are parked very close together and everyone is positioned so that you have to reverse to leave. If something happens here, you cannot get out quickly...

Parking a little outside the centre but free with a blue disc, so great. We spent the day there; it was full of motorhomes and a few vans. A little far from Den Gamle By, but if you have the courage, this museum is well worth visiting—we loved it! In the evening there were fewer people in the parking lot, although some seemed to stay overnight; we did not want to.

You must be in a motorhome and have a parking disc. A perfect night for us, with a little noise but nothing disturbing for a Friday evening.

Very noisy. We did not think it was a good place. If you do not have a Danish parking disc (you can buy one at petrol stations), you will definitely be fined. It is not for vans. Motorhomes only. You will be fined and removed. We saw the attendant doing his job, checking the disc and whether you were in a motorhome.

A free dump site without water supply or disposal facilities. It is well located for getting into the city. It is noisy, even at night. It is checked constantly, so don't forget your parking disc. The city centre itself is dirty. Behind the parking area is the harbour with many shops; it is cleaner there...

Looks a little shady, but quite a few cars were parked there. Lots of traffic on the road during the day, but very quiet at night. Pleasantly surprised. Parking intended only for campers. You need to have a parking disc displayed visibly under the windscreen. If you don't have one or it cannot be seen, you risk a fine. The city centre is about a 15-minute walk away. There is construction around the car park, so the surroundings look neglected. The parking is free.

Sure, it is a car park and nothing beautiful. But it is perfect for visiting the city and sleeping. And it costs nothing. What more could you want in an exciting city! Thank you, Aarhus.

Great place, thanks for allowing free parking and overnight stays here. We placed a German parking disc clearly visible, without any problems.

Warning, you must display the time you arrived visibly behind the windscreen, otherwise you will end up with a fine of around CZK 3,000.

The place is a typical car park between the marina and Basin 7, an architectural highlight... a new district by the harbour... with plenty of dining options. Supermarket right next door. Open daily. Be sure to insert a parking disc and display it visibly. Otherwise you pay DKK 825. No cars, not even with a roof tent ... a fine is also threatened.

No tiny campers allowed! I received a parking fine even though I had used a Danish parking disc. My car is a fully equipped Volkswagen Caddy with a roof tent. The fine is 875 DKK.

Can anybody explain me what is the point of a parking disk if you are allowed to stay there for 24 hours?

The city centre is a 10-minute walk away. Several restaurants nearby. We ate at Hantwerk. Free parking area. Gravel surface. Sufficiently level.

Completely useless to park there because the rules are not stated on the sign. If the vehicle is not registered as a motorhome in your home country, you will be fined overnight. Everywhere else in Denmark it is perfectly acceptable to park with a car used as a motorhome but not the size of a typical motorhome. In other words, all kinds of panel vans and similar vehicles, as we call them in Sweden (1970s minivans), get fined at this car park.

Free 24hr parking 15 minute walk from city centre for campers only. Multiple spaces. You MUST display a parking disc otherwise you will get a parking ticket. We didn’t have one so drove to the nearest petrol station and bought a stick on one for 21DK. After parking came back, other campers got tickets but we didn’t so the adhesive clock works!

Perfect place to park and explore the city. Just don't forget your parking disc!! That will cost you dearly (€115 fine; they check daily).

We were there at Easter and felt safe; the location is excellent. Overnight stays are free. Anyone who complains about that cannot be pleased.

Very good location for visiting Aarhus. There were probably 30 motorhomes there and still space available. Bins for different types of waste are provided.

This place is superb! There are no facilities, and the large number of vans and motorhomes were packed in when we were there, but it is free for up to 24 hours (make sure you put your parking disk in the windscreen) and about 15-20 minutes walk to the centre of Aarhus. Some of it does flood a bit when it rains (just very large puddles) but such a great place.

I don't understand anyone giving this place a low rating. The location is strategic both for visiting the historic centre and the new part of the city, with its modern buildings. And everything is free. Thank you to the beautiful city of Aarhus for this area intended for motorhomes.

Good parking area for one night near the university. Very easy to reach the city centre on foot.

A good parking area for one night. If you arrive early enough, you can still find a space easily in the low season. We stayed here for one night with around 15 other campers. The food nearby is good. The city centre is easy to reach on foot. Many young students stay here because of the proximity to the university, but they behave very respectfully.

Very central parking area. Perfect for visiting the city of Aarhus. The car park is exclusively for motorhomes. You may stay here free of charge for 24 hours.

Good car park for one night, not too far from the centre. We stayed here in our converted camper van and displayed a German parking disc clearly; we had no problems. Not exactly quiet because of the adjacent roads, but perfectly acceptable considering the location.

Great place and everything as described. We felt very safe, surrounded by campers, and if you set the parking disc correctly there is no ticket either :)

For a car park, very well located and fairly quiet on Saturday afternoon despite the two busy roads. Fotex supermarket is a 3-minute walk away. Thanks to the city.

Having read the reviews we worried a bit about overzealous parking attendants but as long as you are a motorhome or campervan and clearly display a proper parking disc (ours is a blue German one) set to your time of arrival (which is also your time of departure 24 hours later) and make sure it can be seen when you close your blinds, all is excellent.
