Sentiero Santuario Della Civita, 04020, Lazio
Been here?
This free monastery car park has 3 levels, but the beautiful views are from the monastery square, where parking overnight is not allowed. The lower levels are reached by a bumpy track, and the lowest has very low trees suitable only for very small vans. The site is generally quiet, but recent stays reported sewage smells, many mosquitoes, and hourly monastery bells; toilets were open all night.

the lovely views are from the monastery square. you can't stay there (and big vans wouldn't even get in as it's through a tunnel). there are actually 3 levels of car park. 1 at road level, 2nd down a bumpy track, and 3rd even further down with very low trees so only suitable for very small vans. the bells do ring all night... at 22 mins past each hour!Translating
Beautiful place. We slept here for one night in July; the view from the monastery is great and the toilets were open all night. Unfortunately, the parking area smells of sewage (perhaps a septic tank there?) and there are an incredible number of mosquitoes. The monastery bells ring hourly, which can also wake you up. Basically, neither of us managed to sleep a wink all night…Translating
Very nice spot, lots of space, no noise. No services.Translating
Good place for night. Quiet and calm. I recommend.Translating
At night, a man came by who said he was a police officer (no uniform, no police car) and questioned me for a very long time about what I was doing there and whether I was alone. As a woman traveling alone, I no longer felt safe and had to leave the place during the night. Creepy..Translating
Free. Lots of parking spaces. Toilet at the monastery until 6:30 p.m. (bring your own toilet paper). Super beautiful view. Partly a little noisy because a generator runs in the parking area, but it did not bother us.Translating
Fabulous quiet spot away from crowds and heat with terrific views to Gaeta and Sperlings. Flat, shady spot. Sometimes the water pump from the monastery came on but not during the night. No facilities. Toilet in the monastery can be used until 6:30pm. Take your rubbish and deposit in town not up there. Place is rather clean and should stay that way.Translating
