Lakeside Wy, G74 5LB, East Kilbride
Been here?
A large free car park beside a watersports centre and small lake, with no stated restrictions. The lakeside setting has walking routes, dog-walking opportunities and children’s play areas, including a zip line. Noise is unpredictable: recent visits reported car races, shouting, football and vehicle music late into the night. Other stays were calm after sunset.

It might be a coin toss, but we had a terrible night. There were car races and cars driving back and forth all night long. People were yelling and playing soccer. In short, you might get lucky—or you might not...
We slept there on Thursday night, 7 May. A group of young people had fun making noise with their motorbikes and cars until 11 p.m. Apart from that, everything was perfect for reaching Glasgow the next morning.
Free parking for about ten vehicles, with level spaces beside the lake at the water-sports centre. A few runners and walkers enjoy the surroundings at the end of the day. The children enjoyed the playgrounds, which even had a zip line! The 2 or 3 cars playing music loudly left around 11 p.m., and after that there was nothing but peace and quiet. We had a good night.
The place is great, right by the small lake, with a path where dogs can be walked. We also had the pleasure of meeting the young people and their cars. They parked directly beside us, occasionally honked, and left the music and engine running. They were not threatening, just somewhat annoying. They left at 11 p.m.
First night in a van. It’s the local water area, and residents come here to walk around, but once the sun goes down it’s very quiet. We slept well.
Lovely spot but ruined after we settled down for the night. Youths in cars parking next to the van and playing music this went on until one in the morning until we moved. Moved up to top of car park and we slept well enough. Probably didn’t help being a Saturday night
