31 Rue de la Cascade, 71400, Autun
Been here?
Small parking lot perched on a hillside overlooking Autun with views toward the Roman Couhard stone. No facilities. Access road from Autun is steep and challenging for vehicles over 6 m; parking entrance is tight. Asphalt surface, slightly sloped. Few level spots available. Picnic table and a spring-fed water pump on-site. Quiet at night after 22h; busy with day-trippers and parked cars before then. Popular for short hikes to Brisecou waterfall.

I recommend this strategic location halfway between the town and the countryside, with walks and a waterfall on the other side. And indeed, a very beautiful viewpoint! However, for us it was a Saturday night, with many vehicles coming and going in the middle of the night, and the place was very busy from 7 a.m.Translating
Beautiful view but very few flat spaces, all taken when we arrived. The climb from Autun is challenging for a motorhome—we managed it with our 6.20m vehicle, but it was very tight!Translating
We were the only ones sleeping in front of this magnificent panorama. Very peaceful. More suitable for medium-sized vehicles, as the access road is tricky, especially the entrance to the parking area between the two concrete posts. The small village is charming. Many walkers come to see the pyramid and hike to the waterfall.Translating
Nice view. And quiet.
Very pretty view of Autun. The nearby Roman pyramid is an interesting sight. Don’t miss the walk to Brisecou waterfall, 15 minutes away on foot. We did not spend the night here, but nothing prohibits it.Translating
Superb place with a view of Autun. Quiet night. Slightly sloping paved parking area. We will come back.Translating
Indeed magnificent on the evening of 06/04/26, disturbed by a domestic argument between a young couple at the end of the day and the arrival of young partygoers from midnight until 1:30 a.m... The rest of the night was quiet. The municipal workers came to clean up the young people’s rubbish and mow the lawn mid-morning... Very beautiful, well-maintained setting; too bad—we thought it would be quiet!Translating
Lovely place with a view of Autun and the start of a short walk to a waterfall. Parking area very busy this season. The parking spaces are short. Parking a 6.36m van was just about possible.Translating
Superb view and paved parking, quiet at night.Translating
Beautiful view, plenty of space. Lots of traffic until 10 p.m., then a very peaceful place!Translating
Beautiful spot; drive on to the rearmost parking area for a wonderful view. Quiet in the evening and at night, busier during the day with visitors to the sights. A spring-water pump is a little further on, along with rubbish bins and a picnic table. The gendarmerie came by to check and greeted us kindly. The historic centre is within walking distance, about 15 minutes, with many steep paths and roads.Translating
Lovely and quiet. No facilities. Next to a meadow, a small village and an unusual pile of stones, with a beautiful view over Autun. Down below are the remains of a Roman amphitheatre.Translating
Quiet night, orientation table overlooking Autun, pyramid... and a cute washhouse with a lovely little free library.Translating
Very quiet, we felt safe. Roads are a little narrow. Our 7.40m motorhome was fine, but it would be more complicated for a heavy vehicle.Translating
Exceptional view over the town on one side and the rolling countryside on the other. Beware, many people come to see the pyramid and start their hikes. It’s not easy to find a space. And there was a beautiful fireworks display on 14 July.Translating
Absolutely beautiful little site with a fantastic view over the city and a lovely walk through the forest to the waterfall. All the locals and visitors were so friendly. Had left main Autun site by the lake earlier as a large noisy group of about 30 caravans turned up, but this was a favour to us, as this little site was ideal from a night.
Wonderful, restful location. Just an ordinary car park with a few spaces relatively flat. No shade but good breezes! Very quiet overnight but busy with visitors in the day.
