24 An der Altmühl, 92339, Beilngries
Been here?
This is a campsite beside the Altmühl, with regular pitches and sleeping barrels. Recent visitors reported arrival from 15:00, departure by 10:00, dirty sanitary facilities and a party-like atmosphere from groups using the rental accommodation. The river was described as a dirty, stagnant pool rather than a pleasant bathing area. Motorhome water and waste services are poorly arranged and not clearly shown on the plan.

We did not feel comfortable at all. Arrival only from 3 p.m., departure already at 10 a.m. Sanitary facilities not clean. The “river” is more like a dirty pond. At €38, it is clearly too expensive! It was more of a party venue than a campsite, as there were many groups in the rental accommodations on site. Anyone looking for peace and quiet is completely in the wrong place here. We would not visit this site again!Translating
A site that has almost everything—not exactly cheap, but everything is clean and well maintained. Friendly and helpful staff, also with little tips for excursions. Private bathrooms are available at all pitches for a €14 surcharge, but they are not necessary.Translating
We stayed here over Easter and enjoyed our time. Pitch 53 was quite large, the sanitary facilities and washing-up station were clean, and the connection to the Altmühl cycle path was perfect. The motorhome service point is poorly designed and, above all, is not marked on the map. We did not like the 10 a.m. departure time.Translating
Hello, we spent two nights at the campsite over Whitsun. Friendly staff. The site was huge. The sanitary facilities were really fine, with only a little soil from the campsite on the floor. It was especially nice that we had booked three nights but stayed only two. They refunded one night without us even asking. We would gladly return.Translating
The lady at reception was very nice. Pitch “by the water,” number 109, was small, like all the pitches (7 m motorhome). The pitch was unkempt, with stinging nettles overgrowing the electricity post. The site is designed for families, with tiny houses and sleeping barrels. There is no swimming access at the Altmühl, and the neighbouring outdoor pool was closed for renovations. Toilet clean, but the soap was empty. Conclusion: far too expensive!Translating
Anything but “glamping.” The pitches by the river are separated from it by a hedge. You cannot see the river. The “river” is stagnant, litter-filled water. Everything is untidy (beer bottles and more in the grass beside the path), and the private toilets at the pitches are unattractive. The paths are lit at night. Everything seems geared toward profit. Far too expensive for this.Translating
Wi-Fi was also out of order. Some areas look a little neglected as well. A 4-star campsite??? Well, we have seen much better equipped and better maintained ones. Online booking worked brilliantly. The reception was completely unreachable by phone—just an automated message every time.Translating
It is a great shame that this otherwise beautiful site (we were already here in mid-2019) is being made “soulless” in the pursuit of profit maximization. If you need fresh water (the rear half of the campsite has no fresh water because there is a burst pipe), you have to search for a long time—three of the four water points were defective and will remain out of service until after the Bavarian summer holidays.Translating
With the barrels, shepherd’s wagons and houses, it resembles a small holiday village, like Center Parcs. Some of the barrels are very close together, so there is little privacy. Our complaint about the rental bathroom was dealt with promptly and perfectly! The staff, meanwhile, are genuinely committed and courteous. Many thanks for that.Translating
