Been here?
This is a natural parking spot for short-term stays, near a viewpoint with views towards the Brocken and good walking opportunities. Camping and overnight stays are explicitly prohibited, and the area can become busy with cars belonging to walkers. Nights may be quiet and dark, but road noise and early-morning traffic can be noticeable.

Great for short-term parking but no camping allowed - so we didn't. cars park here for walkers so can be pretty full
Stayed here for one night, great spot near a viewpoint (you can also watch a wonderful sunset there). In the morning another car with a hiker arrived. People park here to start their routes.Translating
Super quiet and dark at night, including a starry sky. Great. In the morning, the road comes to life.Translating
It is already very loud in the pop-up roof. But it is close to the Rappbode Dam. Be careful if it has rained a lot, as the edge can become very muddy, especially if you arrive in the dark.Translating
There is a sign explicitly stating that camping is prohibited, but we still stayed here for one night. Everyone passing by was friendly. The night itself was very quiet, although trees were felled at 3:50 a.m. A short walk gives you a beautiful view of the landscape.Translating
After about an 800 m walk, you get a very beautiful view. People passing by are friendly and say hello; they don't seem to mind. The night was rather short because a truck woke us at 6:20 a.m. with a friendly honk. You don't hear much from the road, even though it is less than 500 m away. But there is a sign explicitly stating that camping is prohibited.Translating
The spot is great! An evening walk to the viewpoint, about 800 m away, with a sunset is wonderful. Everything is clean so far! Please don't leave any rubbish here!Translating
The place itself is nice and the night is quiet, but it should be noted that the road is about fifty meters away, busy on weekdays from 4 a.m. and very busy in the following hours, including with trucks. Space for two, or at most three, vehicles.Translating
Great place for hiking. We only stayed here during the day, but there were two campers that had set up camp overnight.Translating
We spent a quiet night here with 3 other motorhomes. You can hear the road a little, but not loudly enough to be disturbing. Great starting point for cycling and hiking tours.Translating
A wonderful place where the fox and hare say goodnight to each other. We arrived in the dark and enjoyed the peace and moonlight. There is a great view of the Brocken within walking distance. In the morning I collected paper and rubbish left behind by tourists there. Incredible. I am happy to do this in natural places to thank nature for such a wonderful night! We will return.Translating
Level ground, quiet at night, you can hear the deer. A short hike to the viewpoint is worthwhile. I was able to enjoy a beautiful sunset.Translating
Very good spot, just a few minutes' walk from a superb panorama. Close to the road but not much noise. Many hikers in the morning.Translating
We were here alone. There is a view of the Brocken, just barely. If the fir trees grow a little more, the view will no longer be there. You can clearly hear the road at night. From 10 a.m. onward, many hikers and cyclists come here and watch you very closely.Translating
A super beautiful little spot. We arrived around 9 p.m. and found 2 other campers. However, there is enough space here so that you don't disturb one another. We then took a short hike to the signposted viewpoint (HWN 54). The walk takes just under 10 minutes and the view is definitely worth it. It is wonderfully quiet at night despite the main road.Translating
Absolutely quiet in the evening, so there is no need to worry about the main road! We were there with a few other campers, all very friendly. In the morning you can take a short hike to the viewpoint — amazing view! Amazing spot!Translating
We spent a quiet night here. Beautiful hiking trails with great views. At this time of year, the parking area was a little muddy.Translating
Great pitch for one night, close to many hiking routes.Translating
Nice pitch for one night. The country road gets quieter in the evening; in the morning there is a lot of activity from hikers, but it is not particularly disturbing. The Rotenstein viewpoint is only 800 m away and perfect for sunset.Translating
no facilities, but perfect for one or two nights. Super calm, road is not disturbing. very dark at night. I was there with three other campers which gave a good feeling. please keep it clean and take your stuff. would be a shame if this place would be closed.
