Been here?
This is a free, nearly flat gravel parking area in central Andenes without infrastructure. It is within walking distance of the town, lighthouse, port and ferry to Senja, with a rubbish container at the entrance. Nights are generally quiet, although the area is close to houses and can be exposed to strong wind.

We spent three nights here in mid-July while waiting for our whale-watching safari to be rescheduled due to bad weather. We didn’t do much, just a few short walks. There is a rubbish container at the entrance to the car park. The nights were quiet apart from the wind, which nearly knocked over the motorhome—it is quite exposed!
Thanks to Andenes for allowing us to park for free day and night. Parking within walking distance of the town center, the lighthouse, and the medical center, which fully met our needs.
Great parking for an overnight stay. Quiet and not far from the port and ferry.
Great spot for an overnight stay or visiting the town. Too bad many motorhomes park as if they want to extend their awnings on both sides. If everyone parked a little closer together, there would be room for everyone.
Free parking well located in the town center. Practically flat, with sea views from some spaces. Very close to the ferry to Senja. Quiet night. Thanks to the municipality.
Easy-access parking for exploring Andenes.
Very good for sleeping, quiet.
Very convenient for spending the night on flat ground before boarding the ferry to Senja the next morning. Several other travelers, but respectful, so it was a quiet night.
Pleased to get here quickly off the ferry. 5 or 6 other vans. Bit close to houses but ok. Easy walk to town and the lighthouse. Lovely coffee shop and souvenir/craft shop nearby.
Not pretty but practical. Close to supermarkets and restaurants. Perfect for the night before the ferry to Senja. Level parking area and quiet. Toilets about 10 minutes away at the harbor. When we were there, the toilets were still open at midnight but locked at 8:00.
You can park here easily right after getting off the ferry. Especially helpful if you didn't cope well with the crossing because of the autumn storms. Open area and not very sheltered. We were shaken around quite a bit here during the night in 14 m/s winds.
Just a parking area, but plenty of space among a row of houses, with the sea nearby as well. It was perfectly adequate for us. We went on a whale safari the next day. Since there are more parking areas in town, the visitors spread out well.
Excellent, free, central.
I arrived by boat from Gryllefjord intending to book a whale safari that same day. There were no places available, so I had to spend the night there. A peaceful night. At 10 in the morning I boarded, and we were lucky. We spotted sperm whales several times. On the way back to the harbor, by chance we came across a large group of orcas. It was wonderful. Thank you, Andenes, for this place.
Honestly, perfect. There were many of us, but we weren't packed in, and we even managed to get a sea view. Very convenient for going whale-watching the next day. Very quiet. Since it had finally stopped raining, we were able to take a little walk around town and admire the pretty houses.
Very convenient, in town. We were able to wait before taking our daughter to the airport, just 5 minutes away, and then join the ferry queue.
Good free place to spend the night, even though you stand quite close together. You may still find a free space in the evening. Some locals park their cars here and leave in the evening. Please note: at the beginning of the area, some parking spaces are marked PRIVATE.
This place was perfect. Not sure why they don’t charge, they easily could. Great for 1 or 2 nights.
A convenient place to spend the night.
Dirt parking area, perfect for spending the night in Andenes. In the center and close to the whale safaris, shops, etc. No noise at night. No facilities.
Includes a waste-disposal point, in the center and close to the whale safari. The ground is flat.
