2 Avenue du Lac, 01130, Nantua
Been here?
Free parking at the edge of Lake Nantua with no height restrictions on the first section and plenty of space, officially permitting overnight stays 6pm–9am. Beautiful lake location with walking paths and benches. However, reports since mid-2025 describe evening safety concerns and street racing by young people; frequent police checks occur. Noisy from trucks at 5am.

Beware, lots of checks. It is possible to sleep here; free parking from 6 p.m. to 9 a.m....
We used this parking area for our lunchtime meal break. The lake is very beautiful. Be careful: parking is paid seven days a week. I have doubts about safety if stopping for longer.
Woken in the middle of the night, at 3:30 a.m., by music, revving engines and a group of very noisy and rather unpleasant young people. We left hurriedly for another place to finish the night.
Although there were two other motorhomes, we did not feel safe and left.
Free parking by the lake. Fine as a stopover, but nothing else. I felt safe there as a woman. No trouble from groups of loitering youths. Waking up and walking along the lake is beautiful.
Accessible to everyone without height or width restrictions. In the end, we did not stay overnight because we had already had a taste of the evening joyriding in the middle of the afternoon.
Pleasantly located parking, but not safe in the evening: stressful and noisy because of joyriding.
Free parking now, but used by local youths for joyriding. In addition, there was a Halloween party with mortar fireworks, whose fragments landed near the van. The owner of the Bistrot restaurant, which is quite good, confirms that the parking area is a trouble spot. A shame, because being close to the lake was nice.
Quite a large parking area; I parked my 8 m motorhome there easily. A little noisy from 5 a.m. because of passing heavy goods vehicles. Otherwise, I had a good night.
On the lake with a good walk all the way round. No facilities except rubbish waste but had good mobile service. It was clean and we felt safe.
We slept well there; it wasn’t too noisy either. Even though...
Large parking area beneath tall trees with a view of the lake. Plenty of benches to enjoy the view.
Free parking until September 13.
Perfect for stopping for lunch. Please note: parking is paid except from noon to 2 p.m.
It could work for one night, but the parking area is very noisy, lit all night, and beside a busy road. The lake offers a pleasant walk. The Bistrot restaurant directly opposite is a good place to eat, although prices are somewhat high...
We’re here today. Magnificent lake, the water is perfect. The parking is now paid, except from 6 p.m. to 9 a.m. So come and enjoy it.
Large car park with a superb view of the lake, but unfortunately it’s impossible to sleep at night: vehicles use the car park as a racetrack with music blasting, and groups of people play on the swings while talking too loudly. We left around 11 p.m. for the port, where it was very quiet—just the train passing around 7 a.m., but that was fine.
Large shaded car park near the lake, no services. Close to the town centre. Be careful: there are parking meters today.
