Nufenenstrasse, 3988, Obergoms VS
Been here?
Reported closed — municipality no longer tolerates overnight stays due to illegal waste dumping and unhygienic mess; regularly checked
Quiet gravel parking area just below the Nufenen pass, popular as a hiking starting point with panoramic views and shepherd sightings. Well spaced from the road so passing traffic isn't intrusive, with plenty of room (15+ spots) and strong mobile signal for remote work. No facilities are provided. However, the municipality of Obergoms reports that illegal waste dumping and unhygienic behaviour mean overnight stays here are no longer tolerated as of July 2026, with regular checks; alternatives suggested are Camping Nufenen in Ulrichen or the pass-top car park. A tourist tax (3 CHF per person) via QR code has also been mentioned.

Stopped off here and got some online work done. Gotta support the lifestyle! Large gravel parking lot. 15 spaces at least. Had two bars of 5g which proved strong enough to do about 4 hours of work using Orange data! Lovely view. Trails leading off. Stayed from about 1PM - 6PM so can't say what it's like in the evening. Set back a bit from road. Lots of cars passing but you don't get the drafts.
Due to repeated disregard for nature, illegally dumped waste and unhygienic waste, this site will no longer be tolerated by the municipality of Obergoms with immediate effect. Compliance will be checked regularly. Please use Camping Nufenen in Ulrichen or the parking area at the pass instead. Thank you.Translating
We spent a very quiet night here in October 2022 :)Translating
A sign with a QR code asks you to pay the tourist tax. Based on the number plate: 3 francs per person. Brilliant place without too much hustle and bustle. We are happy.Translating
Magnificent view, and few people even though there are many right at the top of the pass. Quite a lot of traffic early in the morning.Translating
Great pitch for one night. Be careful in bad weather. The storm can be really severe. The direct path to Lake Gries is also closed. A considerable detour is required.Translating
Perfect place for the night, gravel parking with lots of space, far enough from the main road that you cannot hear the passing cars. No facilities.Translating
After a beautiful sunset, I spent a quiet night here. There are no facilities. If you need them, it is better to stay at the top of the pass.Translating
Brilliant place! Super beautiful view; the shepherd came by with his sheep. You can hike to Lake Gries—beautiful.Translating
