2027 La Taupe à l'Ours, 2027, Saint-Aubin-Sauges
Been here?
Refuge parking area above Lake Neuchâtel, quiet at the forest edge with only a small, sloped patch of flat ground. Access is via a narrow, steep road, awkward for vehicles over about 6m. Drinking water and picnic tables are available, but toilets, electricity and fire-making are reserved for people renting the refuge, and using them otherwise is treated as unauthorised. The refuge is privately run and rented out on weekends, so the area can be off-limits or crowded then. Views over the lake are outstanding.

Beautiful view and lovely spot, but barely an hour after arriving, the local police asked us to leave because the area is forbidden.
To enjoy this place, please remember: It is private property, maintained by volunteers, and rented out on weekends. Please respect the site and do not use the electricity—it is theft.
The place is very pleasant if you rent the refuge; otherwise, access to the facilities is forbidden. The parking area is small and sloping.
We drove all the way up a narrow, steep road only to discover that the site was far too uneven. You can only see the view from below the hut. A group of scouts then arrived to stay in the hut! Who knows how many campers have driven up there only to turn around immediately.
Absolutely gorgeous and basic spot - water but no toilets (not open). View amazing and bbq facilities - not sure what it would be like if the refuge was booked
Quiet, great view, deep in the forest, possibility of making a fire, drinking water. However, the services described are only available to refuge tenants.
