Lygnaveien 1221 Fylkesvei 43, 4595, Tingvatn
Been here?
A free asphalt parking area at Tingvatn fornminnepark, suitable for a short stop or overnight stay. The surface is slightly sloped, and the road is about 5m away, with loud traffic noise despite lighter traffic between 0 Uhr and 5 Uhr. Electricity costs 80 NOK and requires a Norwegian account. The museum, with toilets and showers when open, is worth visiting.

We stayed there for one night; the site is slightly sloping (no problem with leveling blocks). The road was very loud, as you are only about 5 m from it; every time, we thought the cars were driving through our motorhome. Between midnight and 5 a.m. there were not many cars, but they were very loud. We would not park here again.
Good place for both a short stop and an overnight stay. We stayed here in 2024 and have returned this year; it remains an excellent spot. Very quiet at night, with little traffic on the nearby road. Electricity is available for a modest fee. The museum is well worth a visit, and it's also worth walking among the old houses from the 19th and early 20th centuries and seeing the Viking runestones.
Unfortunately, we couldn't pay here (again). Why are there payment solutions everywhere that only work for Norwegians? Couldn't you simply use PayPal, which is much more widely used internationally?
Spent a wonderfully peaceful night. The museum was only open on Sundays. Electricity is only available if you have a bank account in Norway.
Arrived just before 5, which probably delayed the lovely lady from going home. She was super helpful regarding the electricity. The road is quiet during the night. Toilet and shower facilities are available when the Museum is open. We would also recommend visiting the small but interesting Museum.
Museum closed for the season, but that didn't matter because we were looking for water. The tap is along the left-hand building and requires a Bern key.
Very good, quiet spot! Woke up with the sun in our window. No particular nice view, but in the middle of a green forest area.
Asphalt parking area; the stay is free if you do not use electricity. Several interesting things to see even after the tourist center closes. No toilets.
There is not much parking on this Route 44, and this parking area is perfectly timed. All paved, with 4 electrical outlets for 80 NOK. Very good for one night; leveling blocks are needed.
Great large site. With 2 electrical connections. Costs 80 NOK for the night. Free without electricity. In the evening the road has hardly any traffic, so it is very quiet.
Spacious parking area with four spaces for motorhomes and campers. The road is directly behind it, but there is hardly any traffic at night. Traffic starts in the morning, which may bother some people. I did not find fresh water, but it is still a great place. Thank you for providing it.
Very nice, quiet motorhome site and free museum. Plenty of space. Great that something like this exists!
Museum parking area, alongside the road. Bring leveling blocks. Electricity for 2 of the 4 planned vehicle spaces.
Good spot for a night. We were alone. If you park with some distance to the street you will hardly hear it and during night traffic here is very low. Very nice walk around through the differen artifacts and ancient stones. Unfortunately the museum opening hours were limited already end of august.
Very quiet, located at an interesting historical excavation site. Free, including the museum; be sure to take the tour.
