Been here?
This is a small, quiet car park with space for about 4 vans, reasonably flat and useful after a late ferry. Dog walkers arrive from around 8:00am, but overnight stays are generally quiet. Woodland walks lead through the gate, with a 7km round trip mentioned, and the beach is also accessible. Only motorhomes up to 6,20m long are suitable, and there are no facilities.

great stay after a delayed ferry. dog walkers in morning of course but no hassle
Fabulous stop after the late night ferry from Ireland. Away from all the large trucks that park in all the lay bys near the port. We took a walk along the beach the following morning. Be careful where you walk lots of MOD sites locally.
Close to the road but with flat spaces. A lovely 7 km round-trip walk is available. Locals walk their dogs there. Convenient when arriving late from the ferry.
Really nice place. Not much space, but quiet and with an area to walk your dog or cat.
stayed here for 2 nights in a tentbox as portpatrick was extremely busy.. lovely wee spot and quiet overnight but busy with friendly dog walkers
We spent the night because we arrived from the ferry at 10 p.m. It is really quiet; from 8 a.m. dog walkers arrive. The walk follows a path through the forest. Only motorhomes up to 6.20 m long.
Great little spot. Very quiet, we were the only motorhome parked up overnight. Had a great night sleep. I would suggest not turning up at peak times as this is a very busy dog walking site, and there's only a handful of spaces available. That's what we did and had to park awkwardly until people left. Overall, though, 5 stars.
lovely quiet spot, 15-20 minute drive to cairnryan Port. friendly dog walkers around in the morning.
We spent the night of July 22, 2024, and were very comfortable.
No facilities, spent a very quiet night here. Friendly dog walkers and great dog walks, I saw about 6 Roe deer so please keep dogs under control
Very nice quiet spot, very dark, there were 5 of us when I woke, all must have had same idea to avoid storm Katherine and go inland, wasn’t very windy at all, though could hear it
Nice quiet spot out of the way, no road noise. There were a couple other campervans at night and a couple dog walkers parked up in the morning. No toilets but a good spot to park for the night.
Lovely spot, friendly locals, good sleep peaceful and dark.
Thankyou so much for posting about this peaceful little spot. I couldn't find anywhere at Portpatrick so had a look on Park4Night app and very relieved when I found this little gem. Only about 10 mile from Portpatrick. Got a good nights kip after a full days driving. Some friendly dog walkers who stopped for a chat the next morning.
Very nice small parking in the woods at the beginning of a walking path. Road is pretty close by, but there was no traffic at night and it was very quiet. Lots of dog walkers starting at 8 am in the morning. One more campervan besides us. Good phone signal.
It is fine for spending the night, but early in the morning you can hear a lot of trucks passing.
