Methoni Messinia, 24006, Methoni
Been here?
A family-run, shaded campsite beside the sea and a pebble beach, about 10 minutes on foot from the port and town. Pitches have electricity, and recent stays found the sanitary facilities old but clean, with hot showers and hot dishwashing water. The on-site tavern offers sea views and traditional food, while the site’s condition has varied between stays. A recent price was 21.50 euros for two people with all services included.

It's true that it is a little run-down, but the pitches are large and shaded. The sanitary facilities are clean, and that's the main thing. Located 10 minutes' walk from the port, there is nevertheless a pleasant tavern on site with a sea view.
Shade, old but clean sanitary facilities, waste disposal not very practical, friendly welcome.
Shaded pitch, opposite a pebble beach, close to the village. Facilities are old but clean.
Our second time here. Really good water pressure and hot showers, plus hot water for washing dishes. The staff are super nice and helpful, and the tavern serves great moussaka. €21.50, all included. Beautiful town.
Friendly welcome. Small campsite that needs a little work, but the essentials are there: grassy pitch, electricity included (€20 for one night in a motorhome for two), hot and clean showers, clean sanitary facilities, and hot water for washing dishes. Ideally located for visiting the fortress. One star deducted because the grey- and black-water disposal facilities are old.
The site could be very nice, but unfortunately it is completely neglected and littered. Some showers work and are reasonably usable. The owners are very friendly, but this place lacks everything. Okay for one night to visit the town, but certainly not for longer. Throughout the town there are signs warning, under threat of fines, that campers are unwanted. Overall impression not good.
7 July 2025. Nice campsite. The restaurant offers good value for money... Beach opposite the campsite... Town center 10 minutes on foot...
Ideal location for visiting the town. But the site is very poorly maintained, completely muddy, and especially the sanitary and kitchen areas need renovation. Restaurant closed; Restaurant To Kastel is highly recommended.
Everything you need, beautifully situated among the greenery. I paid €17 per night for one person.
Campsite with electricity by the roadside and beyond that, the sea. Not really a beach for swimming. Ten minutes from the town center, with good restaurants. We paid €21 per night for two people, including electricity and services. The campsite restaurant is closed.
We were not allowed to look at a pitch without registering. At first glance it looked muddy and neglected. We drove on.
The campsite is located near a sandy beach that is very suitable for families. Fair price (€30 per night for a van and 4 people). Very courteous staff and very good restaurant. Unfortunately, the bathrooms and facilities are truly obsolete and often dirty.
Excellent location close to town and a great beach just across the road, with sand and highly visible water. The owner is very friendly. The sanitary facilities are terrible; I don't understand why the owner doesn't renovate them. It's a shame, because otherwise we would definitely have stayed more than one night.
Campsite as described. €25 per night with motorhome and 2 people. Super-beautiful sandy beach; the village is perhaps a 10-minute walk away. The sanitary facilities aren't great anymore, but we have our own in the motorhome.
Campsite by the sea with spacious pitches. Beautiful beach in front and an excellent tavern for eating. €25, all included. Bathrooms are dated but clean.
Very helpful staff. We had a problem with the car, and a mechanic was organized for us and came to the site. A very nice town is within walking distance; the on-site tavern is very good and directly on the beach. Sanitary facilities are old but very clean. Good atmosphere.
We stayed 3 nights and had a very good experience. Although the facility needs modernization, it is functional. The staff are extremely kind and helpful. We ate at their tavern every day and it was very good. Bathrooms and showers are a little dated but very clean. The beach and sea in front of the campsite are beautiful. We were sorry to leave.
Very kind and helpful owner (I believe his name is Nico). A campsite just the way we like it: no excessive luxury, but everything you need is there. Truly Greek style, a little old but clean. Greek helpfulness and conviviality too. You can really relax here.
I have to agree with the previous speakers. Very friendly staff. However, the general and sanitary facilities could use a little tender loving care. A great starting point for a walk to the fortress. The electricity supply is adventurous. The pitches by the road/sea are sufficiently large.
Very poorly maintained campsite, very expensive, we got ticks, and there are many uncared-for cats. They should control and fumigate the areas; keeping animals requires care. I will not return.
Lots of space and, with a bit of luck, a sea view. Great restaurant and clean sanitary facilities. Fifteen minutes on foot to the town and the impressive castle. Electricity is being modernized as of 2025. Some cables are still rather makeshift.
The site has potential, but unfortunately it isn't being used. We stayed here for one night (€21.50) only to visit Methoni. One point for its proximity to town, one for secure parking, and one for the very friendly welcome.
Apart from needing a little maintenance, we spent 3 pleasant days and 3 nights here. Close to the castle and the village center. We recommend it.
Well-located campsite, clean sanitary facilities, and you are lulled to sleep by the sound of the waves. Access suitable for a large motorhome.
Very simple campsite, sanitary facilities a little rustic but clean. The hot showers were much appreciated. Thank you for the very friendly welcome.
Campsite of Greek quality. The proximity to the castle/town is excellent. Others have written extensively about the site conditions. Current price with an ACSI Card: €21.80 for a motorhome and 2 people.
Well located for visiting the town. Friendly owner, clean sanitary facilities, hot shower water, and a level, well-maintained pitch.
The price has increased to €21.50. Washing now costs extra. The value for money is no longer right. There is hot water and electricity, but the site and sanitary facilities look squalid and grubby. Bulky waste everywhere. The woman at reception speaks English but demands an ID card before you can even look at the site. That was already enough for me.
Very kind owners, facilities all work but are not the best. Laundry was free! Pitched a little damp this time of year, but possible to find dryer pitches. Local town is great.
Like everybody is saying in previous comments. Nothing special but you get everything you need. water, electricity and hit shower. Owner is kind and helpful. This time of the year some spots of the camp were quite muddy but owner also warned us about that. It is great location for visiting the city. Overall ok camp.
Great! Very rustic, but it has everything you need. For one night, including electricity and filling up with water, only €17. You can also do laundry for free. There is no dryer.
Great location by the sea and close to the village of Methoni. The site is rustic and looks a little neglected. But the toilets and showers are clean, and there is always hot water. The staff are friendly and also lovingly care for the many lovely cats. We felt very comfortable.
Campsite with a beautiful sea view. Welcoming staff, all services available, old and not very clean sanitary facilities. Many cats on site. €21.50 per day with electricity.
It's actually a shame that nothing better is made of this site. The potential is certainly there, but the sanitary facilities are really grubby, even disgusting. The campsite 10 kilometers farther on is cramped and full, but many things are done properly there. We don't have to understand everything.
Okay for one night. Very friendly welcome. We paid €21.50 without electricity. The showers were warm rather than hot, perhaps because there wasn't much hot water left in the evening. There were still many free pitches. Cleanliness was so-so. Many cats.
