Am Sauberg, 08359, Breitenbrunn/Erzgebirge
Been here?
A quiet tarred parking area on the edge of the forest, with a lake and water playground within walking distance. Traffic and dog walkers may pass during the day, but nights are usually very quiet. The place is suitable for an overnight stay, with forest paths nearby for walking.

We had a very peaceful night here, and there was almost no traffic in the evening either. A few people came to walk their dogs, and that was all. Fine place to stay for one night.
This is a parking area on a road that continues to a holiday settlement, with corresponding traffic until evening. Walkers also park here, and two truck-and-trailer combinations used the area to turn around. Not really our taste, but at night it was very quiet. We slept well, and it smelled wonderfully of the forest.
So peaceful, surrounded by nature. Gravel path off the road is good for a dog walk. Signal on vodafone and o2 was ok, managed to get some work done.
This place is somewhat smaller than expected, but that did not bother us. Apart from an abandoned caravan, we were alone. I cannot understand why hiking or walking is discouraged here. We took long walks with the dogs. Access is restricted to mountain bikers only at designated locations. Otherwise, hiking is easy. The view is magnificent.
Excellent access, great for an overnight stay. Quiet at night, well in the shadows of trees. In the evening and in morning very little traffic. Rangers/Hunters and Vans for shutteling bikers passing by. There is a bike trail running past the place. Not a recommendable base for hiking, but excellent for mountainbiking. There is a nice bakery in town with local pasteries near by.
