Place de la Genette, 17000, La Rochelle
Been here?
This free, mostly flat parking beside the Sacré Cœur church is quiet at night and about 20 minutes on foot from La Rochelle’s centre. Spaces suit small vans, with a 6m van slightly extending onto the road; stays are limited to 48 hours. There are no services, but a bakery and greenery are nearby. Church services and daytime rubbish collection can cause disturbance, especially around Sunday morning.

Convenient for going into town and shaded, but we were woken by the rubbish trucks and jackhammers.Translating
Very practical free parking for visiting the town. Perfect for smaller vehicles; we slightly extended onto the road with our 6 m van.Translating
Slept well. No church bells before 9 o’clock. You can stay no more than 48 hours; I asked the municipal police, who came knocking on my door.Translating
A calm nights sleep on flat ground. Good parking spaces seem to be hard to find in and around La Rochelle so grateful for this one. Deducted a point as there seem to be two vans parked here permanently with one of them spilling their belongings out onto the space next to them which isn’t cool.
Quick meal break in this shaded parking area, but you must not have a tall vehicle. Be careful: at noon it is a lunch stop for many vehicles, which may make it difficult to leave. But from 2 p.m. people return to work and you can leave.Translating
Warning: this place is suitable only for vans, as only car spaces are marked!Translating
Very quiet parking area, but on Sunday morning people come to church and have nowhere to park because so many campervans are there. If you do not want to attract unpleasant attention, leave the place at 8:45 a.m.!Translating
Very quiet, as the comments describe. It is street parking, opposite a beautiful church. Twenty minutes on foot from the centre, with a very good bakery one street away. Let’s respect these places as much as possible so they are not banned.Translating
A fabulous place for visiting the town. Free, very quiet, usually with space available, and 20 minutes on foot from the centre, or 5 minutes by bike path. We stayed three nights and had a very good experience.Translating
Excellent free spot; I was able to reverse-park my 7 m motorhome. I stayed for one day and one night with zero problems. It is quiet, safe, and completely silent. The church bell rings at 9 a.m., that is all.Translating
