Been here?
Roadside daytime parking beside the guest house in Brülisau, a quiet base for hikes toward Hoher Kasten and along the river below. Overnight stays are now banned and enforced with signs and patrols, ending the long-standing free-camp tradition here. Since July 2022 all spots cost CHF 8 per 24h. A bakery and restaurant sit right nearby, toilets are usable, but pitches are sloped and church bells can disturb early sleep.

Convenient to park your motorhome for day hikes. Safe, cheap and enough space. Overnight stays not allowed.Translating
It is a great shame that the municipality of Brülisau no longer allows people to stay overnight. We used to come here often and always had a good time.Translating
We wanted to spend a few days here over the Ascension holiday, as we do every year. All the pitches were removed and there are prohibition signs throughout the village. I tried anyway and was rudely told to leave during the night. Too bad—we do not know what happened here.Translating
Clear prohibition signs everywhere: overnight stays, camping, and so on are prohibited. We do not know whether it is monitored, so we drove on.Translating
Brülisau has got it! :) If you need nothing and simply want a starting point for spectacular hikes, this is exactly the right place. Please keep the spot clean so that there can soon be more places like this.Translating
Beautiful spot, uncomplicated, quiet. Good bakery nearby, and a starting point for beautiful hikes.Translating
Very quiet area at night, nice restaurant to have a little meal, has a WC, there is a trail and a river right below the parking area to walk my dog. Great for 1 night, cheap price. We enjoyed our stay!Translating
Beautifully located, clean spot. Good restaurant with friendly staff right next door. Bakery with delicious things 100 meters away. Good starting point for hiking and biking. Thank you to the municipality of Brülisau!Translating
A few spaces are reserved for motorhomes; other spaces are available but are rather sloped. Lovely view and not too noisy at night, with a river below and hiking trails nearby. I enjoyed it very much.Translating
What more could you want? Quiet and uncomplicated.Translating
One of the few parking places around Appenzell, quiet, affordable, and ideal for starting hikes to Hoher Kasten.Translating
Good spot, Nice views. There are signs for paid parking, we didn't pay as they were not in the motorhome spaces but possibly should have... we got away with it anyways. The Lady in the pub the previous night was lovely.Translating
