A859, 3AQ, Isle of Harris
Been here?
A sheltered parking area below the A859, exactly 13 minutes from Tarbert, suitable for an overnight stop before or after the ferry. The road is lightly traveled at night, and recent stays found it sheltered from strong winds and very quiet. A stream runs nearby, with sheep grazing, but there is no view and midges may be present.

Forecast 50mph winds so hunkers down here. few gusts but nothing in comparison to other spots we tried.
Very good spot for spending one night. Below the road, so it is not visible. Very quiet night. 4G. There is no view, but it works for one night before taking the ferry or arriving on the island a little late, as it is very close to Tarbert.
Slightly sheltered from the wind, convenient for boarding the ferry.
Amazingly sheltered and completely hidden from the road - great stop off for 2 or 3 vans!
Low down below the new road. A little stream with bridge and midges. Had to take home someone else’s rubbish. Even a child’s cd chucked in the burn. Take your rubbish home folks. There are loads of bins provided, so there is no excuse.
