Rua Sub-Ribes, 4540, Arouca
Been here?
A central, free motorhome area in Arouca with shaded spaces, picnic tables, nearby playgrounds and easy walking access to town. Free water, grey- and black-water services and public toilets are available, although the oversized water tap may not fit standard adaptors. Nights are generally quiet, but shared parking includes trucks and tractors and occasional machinery noise can start at 6:30. The open-air market takes place on the 5th and 20th, moved to Friday or Monday when necessary.

Great, clean place close to all amenities. Peaceful sleeping.Translating
Great central place for an overnight stay in Arouca. Plenty of shade and quiet with easy walking access to town centre. Be aware that the water fill is a non standard oversized tap (we have a multitude of adaptors and none of them fit!) Only 4 stars because of this
The area is a parking lot shared with trucks and tractors, although we have our own zone and it is quite quiet at night. Everything could have been fine, but the town hall decided to come and cut the grass with machinery at 6:30 in the morning. That is like staying at a hotel and having them vacuum at 6:30 a.m. If anyone responsible reads this, please take note.Translating
We were on our way to the suspension bridge and decided to stay another night. This centrally located site is ideal for an overnight stay, visiting the town, and filling and emptying tanks. A public toilet is an added bonus if needed. Streetlights illuminate the site and picnic areas. Highly recommended, and thanks to the town.Translating
Arrived on a Sunday morning to a huge parking area for motorhomes and many shady spots were all taken by locals who had chairs and tables out with no restrictions. We found a level spot and explored the town. Lovely quiet and characterful town with a Sunday market, good restaurants and cafes and a nice vibe about the place. We ate at Coelho da Rocha cafe and snack bar….superb!
Great park up in the Arouca village, we spent a lovely quiet night there. lovely and helpful locals. recommend
Parking near the town center. This Sunday there was a small craft market with local products and free services. One star deducted for noise late in the evening from noisy vehicles.Translating
Three very beautiful, spacious spots on a large square. Large trees provide shade. Toilets are clean. Water filling and disposal, including black water. Beautiful walking path right outside, and of course we also visited the other geocaches: the suspension bridge and the long walking trail with wooden steps. All information is available at the tourist office.Translating
Beautiful area in the town center, picnic tables, bathrooms, several supermarkets nearby, bars, and a gas station, all just a few kilometers from the Paiva Walkways and the Arouca bridge. Super quiet at night. 100% recommended.Translating
very good facilities and services. and right in the city center. twice per month there's a market so parking is not allowed. worthy to stay here
Well-lit place, with free water service and bathrooms, all necessities within a 5-minute walk, very friendly people, worth returning to. Thank you, Arouca.Translating
Very good place to spend a peaceful night, close to the city center, supermarket next door, fairly level spaces, bathrooms nearby, and a waste-dumping and water-filling area. There are tables with benches beside the spaces.Translating
I stayed here last night. Perfect place: you can dump waste and fill water, centrally located, 5 minutes from supermarkets and cafés.Translating
Good place, quiet, and 5 minutes from the center of the lovely town. All kinds of services are available locally.Translating
some road noise convenient for town water and waste
Long parking area. Therefore, several parked trucks. Very large car park next door. You can quickly find a parking spot here. Well-kept town. Quiet and safe night. Thank you very much.Translating
We spent 5 nights here, a quiet place with all services free, bathrooms and shaded picnic tables, 5 minutes' walk from the center and 2 minutes from the supermarket. There is also a laundromat 5 minutes away. We cycled the greenway that starts next door and it was beautiful. You have to make sure not to sleep there on the only two market days of the month; we parked in the parking lot opposite on that day.Translating
A very quiet place, with bathrooms nearby. Some noise from 7 in the morning due to cars moving around, but otherwise the area is very pleasant and central, with everything close at hand.Translating
Plenty of picnic tables... The women's toilet is relatively clean, but the men's is not at all. A clean disabled toilet is available.Translating
Pro it’s a legitimate autocaravan and truck parking lot with facilities and more also GNR is right next to the parking lot which feels like added level of safety. Contra: it’s a well lit parking lot all through the night. Safety yes, circadian rhythm no. I woke up on a Friday morning at 4:30 from some metal hammering to find out that they were building the weekly market around my van
Attention, the area is under construction 3 / 07 / 2025. The waste-dumping services are working.Translating
Thanks to the municipality for this area near the center, numerous shops and restaurants, the monastery, and the church. A wonderful dance festival on May 31. Although the area may have seemed a little noisy, there is a large adjoining parking lot, but we must appreciate living together. A nearby laundromat with high-quality professional machines that are fast. I recommend it.Translating
Lovely spot with clean toilets available. Quiet night. A few hundred meters away, you will find a good bakery with friendly staff. Thank you to the municipality!Translating
Busy afternoon: school bus, rubbish trucks, tractor, semi-trailer, lawnmower, generator from a campervan traveler—we had everything... Fortunately, it stopped around 9 p.m.; the night was quiet!Translating
I stayed there for 2 nights. Perfect, with all amenities close to the town and shops. Quiet, a pleasant stopover. I recommend it.Translating
A spacious spot in a quiet location. Separate spaces are reserved for campers, but if there is a market the next day, you can no longer leave from there. Park in the rear parking lot instead. You can get out from there.Translating
Good parking area with picnic benches, water, toilets, quiet, free. Not usable on market days. There may be truck traffic early in the morning.
Difficult to judge. It would be nice, but this Thursday afternoon it was impossible to access because a very large market occupied the entire area; the services were inaccessible.
It is OK, but there is a lot of traffic and activity until late and from early in the morning. Busy roads nearby. By our standards, it is anything but quiet. Otherwise neat and well maintained.
Quiet place. Peaceful night. A small supermarket nearby.
Okay for one night. A little neglected.
Sufficient for overnighting. Some wooden tables and benches for eating outside. Quiet area; check that it does not coincide with a fair (twice a month). Breakfast in Alvarenga on the way to cross the Arouca Bridge: La Brasileira, 2 coffees and 2 buttered toasts (they serve 4), €4.30. If you go from there to Espiunca, it is better to take the detour via the main road rather than the shortcut via the river beach, which is narrow and steep.
Stayed here again for a few nights. Everything is free: dumping waste and filling water works perfectly. You do stand among the trucks that arrive late in the evening and leave early in the morning. A short walk to the center, and the greenway starts right around the corner. Well lit at night. There is a market twice a month; then you are only allowed to stand in the official camper spaces, but whether you can leave then is the question.
The place is fine; the problem is if you happen to arrive on market day, as happened to us. At 6 in the morning we were almost trapped by the stalls and managed to get out with great difficulty. If it helps, this happened to us on a Friday.
Services in all good working order, large pretty level spaces. Picnic benches and little stream nearby. Generally quiet. Although we ended up staying during one of the ferias so they start to assemble around 4am. The vendors were happy for us to stay but that would mean we would be trapped until the market was finished. We ended up leaving at 6am, beautiful well kept town.
Unusable, funfair currently taking place.
Today, the area is unusable, even for the services, because of the funfair.
We stopped to fill up with water and dump waste. Clean place with bins. Non-standard tap connector (larger): bring adapters! The parking lot looks large and quiet for the night (some people around). Very convenient for visiting the town center of Arouca, which is quite small. Perfect, thank you, town hall.
