10 Via del Castello, 75100, Matera
Been here?
A small, free parking area beside the university, with up to 5 spaces when no cars are present. It has no services, little or no shade, and an uneven surface that can become muddy in rain. The location is quiet and convenient for walking to the centre and the Sassi, though capacity and overnight suitability vary. Some spaces are sloped and vehicles over 5m may not fit.

The site is not along the road but on a leveled piece of land beside it. Five vehicles can fit. We slept here peacefully. No shade.Translating
Great during the day—there are many parking spaces along the road if you arrive early enough, but it is not suitable for overnight stays. Five minutes on foot to the old town.Translating
Very uneven ground; muddy when it rains, but if you find a space, it is the right compromise for being close to the city.Translating
Perfect for visiting the city. Quiet area and very convenient on foot.Translating
No services but extremely convenient. Ten minutes from the Sassi. When we were there, nobody else was present and it was very quiet. No problems. Recommended.Translating
Great spot very close to the center, 12 minutes on foot. We slept there for one night and it was very quiet. We also left the motorhome there for an entire evening without any problems. Very small spot—one large motorhome or two small ones, no more—but the advantage is having a nice view and peace and quiet.Translating
Small parking area very close to the Sassi, no services but convenient for simply visiting. I did not stay overnight, so I cannot comment on that.Translating
Tiny free parking area, unpaved and in the sun, but fairly well ventilated, next to the university entrance. No services. Quiet, well-lit area at night. Convenient location for reaching the Sassi and the city center, where there is a small but well-stocked supermarket and several bakeries.Translating
Great place, very close to the center. We slept one night without any problems; very quiet and peaceful.Translating
Attention, construction work means only two vehicles can park, on a slope. No problem: go 200 meters farther and you will find a flat angled parking area. Note that it is not suitable for vehicles over 5 meters. The city center is less than 10 minutes away through the park.Translating
We happened to stay in this parking lot in August 2020 and had a peaceful night. We came back today; I did not realize it was already on Park4night! Small parking lot, so finding a space is a matter of luck. Suitable for vans up to 6 meters. Free and excellent for visiting the city!Translating
Perfect location for enjoying the city until late and sleeping there. Beautiful view over the city. The road is nearby but not very busy (March). The night was quiet and safe. The ground is not perfectly level, but you can find a way to balance.Translating
Good place to get quickly into the impressive city; quiet at night. Directly next to a university.Translating
good spot to make a quick tour of Matera but I wouldn't stay here overnight Translating
The site is well located for exploring the city. However, because of its proximity to the university, it is very busy and everything is full of rubbish. For us, without a toilet in the bus, there were no cafés etc. nearby. You should plan for that. Fine for one night, but no more.Translating
Excellent parking for 3–4 vehicles; better to park after 6:30 p.m. when the university closes. If you have a dog, it is ideal because of the nearby green area by the castle. No services, but it is the closest parking to the Sassi, about 10–15 minutes away. We had a wood-fired pizza delivered by Pizza Più, which offers home delivery.Translating
A very good parking for visiting the city. it's not really flat, but you can handle it. it's packed in the day because of the university, but the night is good and silent. felt safe. Translating
Impossible to use; fallen trees and branches make parking impossible.Translating
Parking 5–10 minutes from the center, convenient and free. Quite noisy on a Friday night until about 3 a.m. No facilities.Translating
Quiet. Very easy and direct access to the viewpoints through the garden.Translating
I could not park because it was full. For vans, continue along the road and on your left, under the trees, you can park without problems; there is enough level space. Twelve minutes on foot from the Sassi center. We spent a quiet night there. Free. See the last photo.Translating
