YO19, Wheldrake
Been here?
A large, flat car park at Wheldrake Ings, beside a nature reserve with walks and birdwatching areas. There are no services and only a little phone signal, while the approach lane is narrow and somewhat rough. Overnight camping is not allowed, and rangers check the area.

A fantastic place.
Peaceful place at the entrance to a nature reserve. A few cars in the morning around 5:30. No one prevented us from parking overnight.
Very nice spot to park for the night, quiet place, large enough for multiple vehicles. In the morning, we were visited by a ranger who told us overnight parking wasn't allowed here, and farmers needed to pass by in a while, so we should leave immediately!
Beautiful, quiet place, though the road there is narrow and overgrown with tall grass on both sides, but perfectly manageable. Very quiet night and a beautiful bridge over the river for walking.
Very quiet place at the entrance to a nature reserve. Lots of birds and an observation point. No services, but a peaceful place where we had a good night. No traffic during the night. We felt safe.
Beautiful place to stay , vey quiet in the evening , was very busy in the morning though as it was a hot day , no one minded is making a coffee on the stove though to start the day :) we would definitely go again as the walls were lovely
