Stays are limited to 48 hours, with waste disposal available but no water or sewage services. The location is quiet overall, although trains and vehicles can be heard, and the A1 is nearby. Very quiet; it deserves to exist. Very good for one night. Aldi 800 m away.Translating
A quiet night. Good rest area, with a few people around.Translating
Beautiful free parking area! You can dispose of rubbish. We had a quiet night despite the railway line. Conveniently located near the A1.Translating
Good location and free.Translating
We had a very pleasant and quiet night here while passing through. The town also looked very beautiful, although we did not visit it because we had to continue straight on.Translating
Very nice, quiet motorhome site for self-sufficient campers, directly on the Ruhr. Ideal for passing through, as the motorway is nearby.Translating
Quiet, beautiful site directly on Lake Harkort. Spacious parking areas, no water or waste services, but a top location on the circular cycle route with direct access to the water, ideal for SUP and canoeing. Better this way than paved sites without charm. Yes, trains and cars can be heard, but we are not staying in or beside the monastery. Thanks to the municipality! And to the complainers: wrong kind of holiday.Translating
We stopped overnight while passing through. The site is quiet and directly on the Ruhr Cycle Route. Three kilometers from the motorway and easy to find. The approach was completely straightforward with our 7-meter-long, 3.5-meter-high camper. Highly recommended!Translating
A very beautiful motorhome site for a weekend, with a direct view of the Ruhr, perfect for a bike tour. I am delighted and certainly will not be staying here for the last time. Many thanks to the municipality for this lovely site!Translating
A great site for us; thanks to the municipality. We stayed here for 2 days. Rubbish disposal available. Excellent space for self-sufficient motorhomes. Aldi is about a 10-minute walk away. We would happily come again.Translating
It was fine for one night. There is a railway line and main road right nearby. Trains also run at night, but it was okay for us. The site is beautiful, with a view of the Ruhr. Rubbish disposal available. No water or waste services. You can enjoy lovely walks along the Ruhr and the lake. The “Freiheit” is also interesting to visit. Thanks to the municipality for the free site.Translating
A very good site for people passing through. Thanks to the municipality.Translating
Many thanks to the town council. A good space with a path to the lake right next to it.Translating
Thanks to the municipality; there should be many more places like this. Quiet at night, with train and car noise during the day. Apart from a rubbish bin, there are no services, but there are good cycling and hiking trails. Please behave like good campers so that these gems remain available to us!Translating
Basically a good site without services. Thanks to municipalities that make such places available. No thanks to the motorhome drivers who still think these are permanent campsites where someone also clears away their rubbish. The rats are taking care of that here now.Translating
Nice motorhome parking area next to the Ruhr River. Very quiet for resting. The downside is that it has no emptying or filling facilities.Translating
Guess the water and that it's free is the reason for the high rates. We thought it was OK. When we arrived yesterday it was almost full so a bit cramped. The river is nice, a couple of minutes walk down a slope. There are a lot of noise from mainly the trains during the night and very early the cars and trucks on the main street that's just outside where you park.
We have often come here during the day to relax. Today was the first time we stayed overnight as well. Down by the lake there is a playground, food service, a public toilet, an excursion boat, and a machine where you can rent SUP boards online. An outdoor swimming pool is next door. The site has no services apart from a rubbish bin.Translating
Quiet place, close to the cycle path and the Ruhr. Spacious pitches, no facilities. Quiet night.Translating
Large pitches but no services. It is free, so we are not going to complain.Translating
I guess it gets high rating for being free but för us it’s only 3 stars.
Very beautiful place with lots of nature and shade. Directly on the river. It was quite full. You can walk along the river. Very good for passing through! Thanks to the town!!!!!Translating
Thank you very much for the free site. We stayed there for one night. At around 6 p.m. there was still plenty of space. Later the site filled up. Great for one or two nights.
Great, thanks to the municipality for this site.
Great site, also suitable for long and tall motorhomes. The outdoor swimming pool by the lake is on the other side of the road. Very quiet. We did not see any checks regarding arrival and departure times, so I cannot confirm the time limit. Restaurants are about a 10-minute walk away in the town center. Burger & Bowls by Samira is recommended.
For a free site, it is absolutely fine. Directly on the Ruhr, we had a quiet, relaxing night while passing through.
A large parking area with grass along the sides, below a beautiful village on the banks of the Ruhr. Very quiet, little noise. Easy to access from the motorway. There are rubbish containers, which is convenient!
Nice place for a night or two. A little train and road noise but not bothersome.
A beautiful site, very quiet except when a train passes by. If the wind is blowing the wrong way, it can be heard loudly. Lots of mosquitoes and bats. But a wonderful lake. You may stay for up to 48 hours.
Good place to stay for a night . We arrived 8 pm and almost there were no places to park . Quite neighborhood, but no services available
There was a lot of space and nice and quiet place to stay the night. There is a train passing by that you can hear but we weren’t bothered by it. We parked with a nice view of the water. However, the public toilets are a bit of a walk and they weren’t open at all when we were there (30.03.25). But it’s a very picturesque town that’s lovely to take a stroll in.
We arrived in the dark and it was somewhat difficult because the parking area is poorly lit. There was still plenty of space, and we felt safe throughout the night. The noise consisted of quiet cars, but otherwise it was very peaceful. The site is otherwise very beautiful; we could park directly overlooking the river and went for a walk in the morning.
The site is okay, but unfortunately it is not lit. Trains are clearly audible, as are planes heading toward Dortmund Airport. Acorns from the trees bang on the roof. But there is a great walk around the lake with the dog. Nothing else; okay for one night.
