Strandbadweg 9, 55422, Bacharach
Been here?
Camping Sonnenstrand is a campsite directly on the Rhine, with green pitches and a private bathing beach. The view is beautiful, but the road and train cause significant noise. The sanitary facilities are old, not very clean, and showers cost 2€. Payment is cash; 27€ covers 2 people and a motorhome without electricity. Swimming is not recommended because of algae, and water sports equipment is not rented.

You could choose your own pitch, with a wonderful view of the Rhine. The female operator was very friendly. Unfortunately, the sanitary facilities are not in good condition. Since the site will be closed next year because of the 2029 garden show, one hopes everything will be modernized then.Translating
The view to the river is beautiful. The shower and toliet needs slowly renovation and could be cleaner. The owner is full unfriendly, he decides if a place is "riverside" or second row. Means we got extra charged for "riverside" place which I kept unfair. When mentioning he said it's still the price as it is a slightly bigger place. Restaurant same personal....
A small, quiet campsite, not brand-new but with an excellent quality-to-price ratio. Pitches directly on the river and a beautiful beach.Translating
Nice view of the Rhine. Significant road and train noise. Cash payment: €27 for two people and a motorhome on the camping side without electricity. Shower extra: €2. You decide.Translating
Undoubtedly a beautiful view of the Rhine, but the campsite cost us €30 for two adults and one child for one night. Swimming in the river is not recommended because there are algae. As for water sports, you can use the river if you bring your own equipment, but the campsite rents nothing. The bathrooms are somewhat dated and too few for the number of guests, and not particularly clean either.Translating
Rather old-fashioned campsite; everything can only be paid for in cash. Sanitary facilities are okay, but definitely not modernized as described on the website. The view of the Rhine is fantastic, but the site is almost too expensive—just under €30 for a pitch with electricity, two adults and a dog. Shower costs extra.Translating
The whole reason to go to a campsite is to have a shower and a toilet. The shower is 3 minutes. Who on this planet can wash their face, body, shampoo and condition their hair and shave in 3 minutes. It doesn’t tell you it’s 3 minutes either you just get left there soap all over your body and shampoo in your hair and spend the next 30 minutes trying to wash yourself in the cold sink. You’re paying extra for the shower token too. I could have parked somewhere for free and washed myself in my own sink.
Directly on the Rhine, near the town of Bacharach. Restaurant on site. The sanitary facilities are rather old and not necessarily the cleanest—one could say the same about the site overall.Translating
Not a very nice campsite, everything is rather old-fashioned, and the sanitary facilities are no longer young, although the website says they have been completely modernized?! A lot of traffic around the site. But at least there is a really beautiful view of the Rhine.Translating
Very nice campsite directly on the Rhine, with a magnificent panoramic view and within walking distance of the attractive old town. The operators are very friendly and accommodating. Overall, we liked it very much. The only drawback is the toilets, which definitely should be cleaned more than once a day. If this is improved, it gets full marks.Translating
Great parking/campsite with a direct view of the Rhine. Friendly staff. Unfortunately, when we were there (March 30–April 1), the shower room was very cold. The showers and toilets are cleaned only once a day, which becomes noticeable in the afternoon and evening.Translating
The shower is not included and the Wi-Fi is very poor, expensive for what it is, and the staff are rather curt.Translating
The campsite location is beautiful. The sanitary facilities leave a lot to be desired. The price is therefore acceptable.Translating
We were here from September 15 onward. With an ACSI card, €23 for two people and a camper, everything included with electricity and Wi-Fi, etc., directly on the banks of the Rhine with a very beautiful view. Very friendly welcome and customer-oriented service. We can highly recommend the site and will gladly return.Translating
