Lakeside parking, break-in reports

Free parking, near a body of water for rowing, as well as other areas designated for swimming. There are toilets in the park by the water. The place is fairly clean, just quite crowded; one row was full of stored motorhomes and caravans. It was quiet at night and we slept very well.

For your information! Excerpt from a newspaper article dated 12 March 2026: “In a complaint, the resident reported that an ‘ever-growing campsite’ had formed in car park P6. As a result, pure parking was no longer possible there; illegal waste was also being dumped and pollution was occurring.”

Interesting place with interesting “campers.” For me, it was a practical place to work in Cologne with nice neighbors. It is only 100 m to the water, and there are opportunities for sports, swimming, or using a portable toilet.

Someone tried to break in while I was sleeping at night, even though another camper was parked next to me. Luckily, I have a dog. The door was already open... The intruder was probably scared off by my dog. I didn’t notice anything. Otherwise, the location is very beautiful, but you need to be careful. And please, no camping behavior!

How can anyone like this kind of atmosphere??? The car park is full of long-term campers in shabby vehicles, with chairs, tables, and other camping equipment spread out. It smells of urine everywhere. We parked there to look at the regatta course; when we returned to the vehicle, we startled two rats under it at 3 p.m. We quickly drove on.

We really enjoyed this large car park occupied by several permanent campers. Beautiful surroundings with the lake and its leisure facilities. The large waterfowl—Canada geese—let you approach them easily. The night was very quiet.

Very quiet and pleasant place to spend the night. Park nearby with bins and portable construction-site toilets. Dogs are welcome.

Nice place for one night. Many long-term campers are parked here, but they are not necessarily present, so it was very quiet in the off-season.

Beautiful and quiet place. Aircraft are faintly audible. Flat surface with grass pavers. Five minutes to the lake for a lovely walk.

Quiet place, unfortunately with many campers staying permanently; one generator ran all night. What a shame… otherwise, it is nice for a walk.

In summer, the portable toilets at the regatta course can be used. Unfortunately, it is always fairly full.

Beautiful place just outside Cologne. Some noise from planes and young people, otherwise perfectly fine. Unfortunately, many people treat it like a campsite: large seating groups, awnings, barbecues, etc. Hopefully this will continue to be allowed for a long time!

Nice place to spend the night. The lake is within walking distance. We were lucky; on Sunday they cleared some space for us. It was already very full, though. Once the day visitors leave, it is very quiet.

Even though half the car park, including the access routes, is occupied by Swedes staying permanently—perhaps holidaymakers?—the place is very pleasant, right by the lake, and quiet.

Excellent place to stop, right next to the lakes for a swim, plenty of toilets and lots of other campers around. We stayed 2 nights with no problems other than the sound of some planes at night. The only rule is to make sure you park along the left side of the lot next to the other campers as the rest of the carpark is just for cars.
