2 Rue du Chemin du Château, 11230, Puivert
Been here?
A basic castle parking area with no services, useful for visiting Puivert Castle and offering calm overnight stays. Access is narrow and steep, with sections over 15% and sharp turns; large vehicles may struggle and two vehicles cannot easily pass. Once parked, the spaces are reported as level, although recent comments mention little shade and no real view. The castle and nearby hiking routes are accessible from the spot.

Basic parking, not much shade and not really a view either. The access is steep with a tight bend, complicated if you have a large vehicle; it is impossible for two vehicles to pass. Good for visiting the castle, but nothing more.
The road is indeed very steep, but above all has tight bends; with a 6.20 m motorhome you need to make a second attempt. Make sure you have enough power to climb. The descent is easier. Once at the parking area, it is rocky ;)
Very easy to reach for smaller campers (maximum 3.5 tonnes) via the narrow, partly steep (>15%), paved and signposted main access from the east. Larger and more off-road-capable vehicles can also use the old gravel track from the west. Beautifully situated, with level pitches. Very busy during the day; a small airfield is nearby. Quieter at night. No parking prohibition.
11% is not the main issue, the problem is that in the turns it's more like 15% and the road is very narrow so two vehicles won't pass without slowing down. all in all, for me, it's more troubles than the benefit, considering how many nice easy accessible spots around
Pretty view, clean, a little windy. I was alone during my visit; I recommend it.
Very quiet for one night. Be sure to use the departmental road toward Camp Ferrier. Google Maps took us along a pedestrian path, steep and rocky. It still worked with a 7.5 m truck and a very low tank… But the road was much more pleasant on the way back ;)
Quite peaceful location. You can visit the castel early in the morning for free I guess, because once it’s 9 am they ask you for 7 euros super unfriendly. We didn’t go inside.
The site is perfect for sleeping. I stayed in the middle of the high season in July and had no problem. That said, the climb is very steep and may be difficult for motorhomes to access.
Really quiet for the night of July 14th! I slept there alone! Warning: steep slope, for small vans only!
Flat, level, calm and peaceful. Lovely views and lots of space.
Very beautiful pitch without services, but quiet and with a magnificent panoramic view… Lovely hikes nearby, plus the castle to visit!
A good quiet spot in February, at least. Be careful to access it from the Quillan side. Otherwise, the pedestrian path is muddy.
The entrance from the Quillan direction is blocked with logs.
Good place to spend the night. It is easy to get there; the climb is a little steep, but a 7.5-meter motorhome can make it, and larger ones can too. Very quiet. Be careful to take the road from Quillan at the start of the climb.
I will use the Fastelach standard because I think it is practical: facilities (0/3), setting (2/3), and nighttime comfort (2/3). Additional remarks: we came across a sound-and-light show at the castle, ending at 11 p.m., which generates traffic in the evening. The spot is still nice!
Beautiful pitch at the foot of the castle, with a superb elevated view over the lake and village. Very steep access, possible with a van but seemingly difficult with a motorhome or large van. Peaceful evening, but noisy in the morning because of many hikers and passing 4x4s. We stayed one night as a stopover.
