Saint-Georges, 46600, Montvalent
Been here?
A small, shaded car park in the forest, with space for 3/4 vehicles and the Saint-Georges resurgence about 50m away. The Dordogne riverbank and a swimming beach are reachable on foot in about 5 minutes. Nights are generally quiet, but cave divers, mosquitoes and a 7h bell can cause disturbance. The access road can be difficult if navigation sends you the wrong way.

Quiet place, peaceful at night. Some traffic during the day because you can enjoy the Dordogne riverbank, just a 5-minute walk away, for swimming, which is great! There is a parking area next to the beach, but overnight stays are prohibited.
Not a very attractive spot and some days it is full of cave divers.
Quiet, shaded parking area, with the spring 50 m away. Nothing else to see, just a blue water hole. Bell at 7 a.m.; very little traffic on the road.
Quiet and shaded spot, with birdsong as a bonus. However, in the evening in May there are many mosquitoes.
November 2 and there are still mosquitoes around the parking area—unbelievable! The parking area itself is nothing special, but you only have to walk 50 m to reach the magnificent cave outlet, where you can easily carry a table, chairs, and your picnic.
It is June 12, 2024, and the place is infested with mosquitoes. We did not stay.
Be careful not to take the wrong road! Maps recalculated my route, but the road it gave me was very narrow, impossible for two vehicles to pass, gravelly, with impossible bends, and extremely difficult to turn around on. And I was driving a minivan, not a van! In short, if you take the wrong road, turn around.
In these days of persistent rain and cold, this area is a blessing from heaven: water and waste disposal, electricity, and a gravel surface. Free. Thanks to the municipality.
