Been here?
A free parking area on top of Gaisberg, with toilets, two taverns and a magnificent panoramic view. The road up is relatively steep and is best suited to a motorhome or van. Camping and overnight stays are officially prohibited. The site can be busy with young people in the evening.

We spent one night here and had no problems. Three other campers were there with us. Officially, however, it is forbidden (a friendly police officer explained this to us, although he said they were not responsible for enforcement—probably the local authorities handle it and check occasionally).Translating
We stayed overnight. Magnificent panoramic view and a great sunset. The restaurant is not recommended…… The place itself is wonderful. Bins available.Translating
Spent New Year's Eve here. What can I say? Fantastic parking area with hardly anyone around. (A small clarification: overnight stays are possible, but camping is not; we asked the refuge manager.) In summer, the drinking fountain with a water connection is open, and there are lots of trails.Translating
Perfect place to stay cool and enjoy sunset and sunrise surrounded by nature—my dogs were very happy! No prohibition for campers.Translating
Seems to be a popular place for young people from Salzburg—the area only became quiet around 10 or 11 p.m. In addition to the toilet, there is also an expensive beer vending machine, even with glasses.Translating
No camping. Police carry out checks occasionally; it can become very expensive.Translating
