Been here?
A clean, well-maintained motorhome area with about 50 pitches and attractive views over the Kiel Canal. Many pitches have electricity, and the canal, passing ships, nearby cycle path and occasional aircraft activity provide the main surroundings; road and aircraft noise are possible. Grey water and toilet disposal cost €1 with a 2-minute limit, while water and electricity are available for payment. A bakery is about 6 km away, and the site opens from December 26 to January 5 and again from mid-March.

Super-beautiful motorhome pitch, especially the spaces without obstructing trees and with a view of the Kiel Canal. Clean grassy pitches; leveling blocks may be necessary. What bothers me is the gray-water disposal: it costs €1, works with a bucket or hose, and is limited to 2 minutes. The toilet disposal is also €1, which is fine, but the 2-minute time limit is annoying. Check-in is so-so; payment by card often does not work. Room for improvement.Translating
A beautiful, well-maintained pitch. Clean, tidy, and quiet. Highly recommended.Translating
Very well-maintained and clean motorhome pitch. Large plots with electricity. Beautiful view of the ships on the Kiel Canal and the entertaining air traffic at Schachtholm airfield. The cycle path along the canal starts directly from the pitch. Super-nice site manager who takes excellent care of everything. Thank you! The pitch is well suited to XL motorhomes.Translating
Excellent place for an overnight stay if you are self-sufficient. Beautiful large pitches with a direct view of the Kiel Canal. We stayed one night and paid €18 without electricity.Translating
We liked it. Ships travel along the Kiel Canal and can be heard. A helicopter occasionally lands at the airfield. A country road separates the pitch from the pedestrian and cycle path. At night the road has little traffic. The nice lady at the payment desk was friendly and helpful. We would come again!!Translating
The road is noisy. The airfield is too. Nothing at all is included in the price. Even cassette emptying costs extra. Gray-water disposal is not possible at all. You are supposed to empty it manually into the black-water machine. That is not only laborious, but with the short time limit also very expensive. The view of the Kiel Canal is becoming increasingly obstructed. So it is just a meadow.Translating
I have been coming to this motorhome pitch for about 10 years, roughly twice a year. Unfortunately, the pitch fee is rising rapidly. Charging €18 now just to park is unbelievable. Apparently people are happy to pay. I am not participating. At this point, greetings to the very nice site-manager couple, who are not responsible for the prices.Translating
Lovely site with a view over the canal (from pitches 30–38 in the first or second row). Sweet, helpful hostess. Good facilities for emptying the toilet and gray water and filling water, as well as electricity, for a fee. If the hostess is not there, payment is made via a machine. This is our second visit and we would gladly come again.Translating
The canal and airport are interesting. A bit overrated area though. Wedges are necessary as most places are not level. Phone reception almost zero.
Very nice pitch with a top view of the canal. And a super-nice site manager who always helps with advice and assistance.Translating
The pitch is clean and tidy, and the site manager is friendly. Everything worked perfectly. Food at the airfield restaurant is cheaper until 5 p.m. and was tasty. For us, it was great for one night.Translating
After quite some time, we finally came back here. We are extremely pleased and will certainly return soon. Nice large pitches, well-kept grass, and in some places an unobstructed view of the canal. Unfortunately, we cannot recommend the restaurant at the airfield. The food was a major disappointment. The bread rolls, however, are delicious. We are already looking forward to next time.Translating
Best view of the 'little ships' on the Kiel Canal!! Even from the second row, which is slightly higher. Well-kept pitch, spacious plots, nice operators, bread delivery :-)Translating
The pitch is exactly as described. Only nature and great views of ships and aircraft. Cycling along the Kiel Canal is no problem. Spacious plots, naturally separated, and most with an electricity connection. For €18/24 hours just to park, I think it is reasonable. Ticket from the machine, cash or card, works perfectly. Thanks to the nice site manager.Translating
€18 for a parking space with a view of container ships is rather expensive. €10–15 would be appropriate. No toilet or washrooms. The site manager is very nice and friendly.Translating
A beautiful, clean, and well-maintained pitch. We have been here several times and will come again. It is fun simply sitting in the motorhome and watching the ships. The airfield next door is not a problem either. Thanks to the operators—you are doing everything well. Thumbs up.Translating
€16 is simply too expensive for this pitch, which offers nothing! The pitch has no, or only a very limited, view of the canal (which is why most people come), no sanitary facilities (there is enough space, but perhaps the issue is disposal of the emptied toilets), and only the simplest toilet disposal. Positives are the easy payment, the friendly site manager, the view of airfield operations, and direct access to the canal. Leveling blocks are essential in the back row.Translating
Very nice site right on the canal! €16 plus one or two euros for power and one euro for black-water disposal. No facility for gray-water disposal. We will be back.Translating
Great view of passing ships, and the site is always kept tidy. However, because of the road in front, engine noise from the large ships day and night, and the airfield behind, you need to be able to tolerate a certain level of noise. Electricity is paid for with €1 coins.Translating
We only got a place in the second row, which is normal at 1 p.m. before the coming weekend. You have to arrive early here. The view of the Kiel Canal is not as good; the trees and bushes obstructing the view are getting taller and taller. But there are still a few gaps. Overall, recommended.Translating
Great place, and above all Angela, the heart of the site, is super nice. We will come again.Translating
Beautiful pitch, definitely recommended.
Unfortunately, the view of the canal is becoming increasingly obstructed.
It is a nice site with a good view of the Kiel Canal. Bread rolls can be ordered on Saturday/Sunday before 6 p.m. and are delivered to the pitch. We would gladly come here again.
We found it an interesting and very tidy location. On one side there is a small airfield, where we saw planes landing and taking off, and on the other side the canal, where even container ships pass. It was not very busy, and at night it was completely quiet. We slept well.
Very spacious pitches and a very nice site manager. We would gladly come again.
Second time here, second time everything was great!
The pitch is clean and well maintained. The site-manager couple is very nice. On weekends, bread rolls can be pre-ordered. Of course you can hear the road; you are standing right next to it. The small planes at the airfield can be heard but are not bothersome. If all that bothers you, simply stay away and look around inland, then cycle along the Kiel Canal.
We were in the front row and could watch the ships; the night was quiet. The small airport had a few takeoffs and landings, but they did not bother us. We enjoyed walking along the canal. Unfortunately, gray-water disposal is only possible with a waste hose or bucket; there is no drive-over drainage channel.
