Been here?
This large, flat parking area beside a lake offers peaceful overnight stays and beautiful mountain scenery. It is 1km from the E15, while the E258 is closed most of the year, so check whether the gravel road is open. The road is one lane with few passing places, and long stretches may require reversing.

Great flat place with beautiful views! The route starts here, and there was internet signal up to this point; after that I did not see any more.Translating
Great spot! Lots of space if, like us, you arrive late (8 p.m.) and all the incredible spots have been occupied since 2 p.m. Flat ground, very quiet, and a beautiful view of the lake.Translating
A fantastic spot in the mountains.Translating
Perfect for one night. Very quiet. Well located in the mountains and beside the lake.Translating
Good parking area with a view beside the road. Check beforehand whether the road is open.Translating
Flat, quiet parking area, perfect for a stop in the mountains beside the lake.Translating
Beautiful place, flat, far enough from the road to have a quiet night.Translating
Very beautiful place, with a view of the lake and snow-covered mountains. Large parking area for more than 10 motorhomes.Translating
A beautiful parking area directly beside the lake. Unfortunately, when we were there on June 10, the scenic route was still closed. To preserve it for campers, pay attention to what is written on the “bins”; they are NOT rubbish bins. They are containers for collecting deposit bottles and cans, with the proceeds donated to the Norwegian Red Cross. Perhaps some people will reflect on their behavior.Translating
We ended up in this place because it was impossible to access the spots further ahead as the road was blocked. Quiet parking, far enough from the main road to avoid noise, with great views and only 50 minutes from Geiranger. Perfect for spending a night.
Good overnight place with lots of space and nice scenery. Road was closed at this point.
Beautiful and quiet night Watched the sun set over the mountains. Lake still frozen and some snow around. Roads clear. Bins in the car park but nothing else
Very large, quiet park up at the start of the 258 from Grotli (we didn't attempt the rest of the 258). Holiday houses above the parking so we tried to tuck ourselves out of view. The hotel at Grotli is an experience with a great cafe, restaurant, toilets & interesting history on the hotel which has been in the same family for 5 generations - worth a visit and just a 10 minute walk.
Beautiful quiet overnight place without services, but that is no problem for us. There is still reasonable 4G here. Along the Gamle Strynefjellsvegen there are also beautiful overnight places, but no 4G coverage there.Translating
Very quiet motorhome site directly beside the water. We deliberately spent the night here so we could leave early the next morning for Geiranger and get a good pitch there—it worked perfectly. We would stay here again.Translating
Great place for an overnight stop. We did not see any more rubbish containers. Idyllic spot. Parking on gravel. Very quiet. No sanitary facilities or waste disposal!Translating
Very beautiful free pitch near the lake. No services and mosquitoes, but lots of peace and quiet and magnificent mountain flowers. We tried fishing, but apparently there are few fish in the lake. Be careful swimming; there are dam siphons.Translating
Quiet place at approximately 1,000 m altitude. Set back from the main road. Beautiful view. Beside a lake where you could swim. Space for a maximum of seven campers.Translating
