Unnamed Road, 22010, Colonno
Been here?
A very quiet roadside spot with spectacular mountain views, nearby hiking routes and a refuge with a restaurant. Access is extremely steep, narrow and poorly maintained, with sections only 2,40m wide; vehicles under 2 tonnes are required. A 2,50m-high and 2,10m-wide camper has reached it, but careful driving is essential.

Perhaps a beautiful place. With our T5 we almost made it there, but had to turn around five minutes before arrival because the road was restricted to vehicles under two tons. In general, a very steep, narrow and winding road.
Absolutely incredible place! It is even more beautiful with snow! I really recommend it! A very quiet spot with no traffic. Beautiful hikes are possible nearby. There is a refuge not far away, closed outside the season. Be careful: the place is very difficult to access. The road is narrow and poorly maintained, with branches on the road and along the sides; we had to clear them as we went to get the vehicle through, but it was worth it a thousand times over!
It is truly a spectacular and beautiful place, but the road up is extremely challenging. It is difficult even by car, let alone with a van. I would say that nothing larger than a camper van can get through that road. There are points only 2.4 meters wide, and if you meet a car coming the other way, passing is an ordeal. It is an unpaved wild spot near the woods.
Indeed, access must be earned. We had two wonderful nights, but in the refuge parking area, with their permission of course. We had dinner at the refuge each evening—excellent value for money. Great hikes start from here.
Quiet place with breathtaking views. Cozy little restaurant with friendly service and delicious beer. Perfect for camping. The road to the spot is in poor condition and very narrow. However, we made it up with a camper 2.5 m high and 2.1 m wide. The mirrors have to be folded in some narrow villages along the way.
The road up was a challenge, but it was worth it.
Fabulous spot! You have to earn it because the road is winding, long and especially narrow, but manageable for most vehicles! We witnessed a dream sunset and highly recommend it.
Stopped for one evening, was slightly concerned about the road after reading the review but the road was fine in a Seat Ateca. It’s not sheltered from weather so I would only advise to go on a dry evening, we had a storm and was stopped in a roof tent which meant packing up through the night and jumping in the car due to wind speed. Stunning spot with nobody around. Recommended.
Beautiful place; indeed, the road is extremely narrow. It is passable in a van, but you really have to be careful! Little toots at 2:30 to welcome us. Otherwise, lovely mountain views ⛰️
Simply incredible spot in nature. Alone in the world for the night, with a beautiful sunset and sunrise and the sound of the herds’ bells. There is a nice shelter with a very beautiful view of Lake Como. However, the access road is long and narrow (we passed with a VW L2H1), so you really need to know your van! Take your rubbish with you!
The view is sublime! It is worth it for sunset and sunrise. However, the road to get there is long and extremely narrow (even though I was in a converted car, not a van or motorhome). I was there while the cows’ enclosure was nearby, so you have to accept the sound of bells at 1 a.m. But I imagine they are there year-round.
