55 Avenue François Mitterrand, 37500, Chinon
Been here?
Free parking near Chinon's fortress, 100m from town center with easy elevator and path access. Toilets available during daytime hours only. Most pitches have minimal slope, suitable for overnight stays. Road proximity brings some traffic noise. Close to a good bakery and town amenities.

It is very close to the centre, free, and has a toilet. It is true that the toilet has opening hours and is unavailable at night. I think the slope is minimal. The place is quiet, although cars pass because it is beside the road. For sleeping one night, you cannot ask for more.Translating
Good for visiting the castle, but that's it. The field is so sloping that it is impossible to sleep here.Translating
Good for parking and visiting Chinon. Somewhat sloping.Translating
Excellent parking, also for overnight stays. Near the lift and path to the town centre and the castle entrance. Impeccable sanitary facilities. Thanks and congratulations to the municipality.Translating
Very practical parking for visiting the medieval town; sloping, paved, close to the fortress and a tourist information office, also suitable for large motorhomes. We did not stay overnight, but it is possible.Translating
Easy-access parking. Very good bakery nearby. Easy access to the centre. Some road noise at night.Translating
2 stars for location to town and a toilet but the spaces are tiny and all heavily sloping. Not a comfortable place to stay so we found somewhere else.
This area suited us well for visiting the town. Close to the magnificent fortress and the town centre (800 metres from the town). Very beautiful medieval town. We slept very well from 10 p.m. to 7 a.m. Perfect for parking our four wheels. Thank you to the municipality for welcoming us to this free area.Translating
Advantage: well located for visiting the fortress and town, and free. Disadvantage: very steep; levelling blocks are essential, and even then it is difficult. Toilets at the end of the car park, but I did not find a large rubbish bin.Translating
Good place to stay for the night and to visit the town. The spaces are sloping but some are better than others. The free elevator down to the town was broken today.
Well located for visiting the fortress, but the spaces are angled, making it difficult to level even with blocks. We had to take two spaces to be straight and level. In addition, the road is very busy.Translating
Place near the castle and town centre, and free; no prohibition on overnight stays and no services.Translating
Thank you for welcoming us for free near the town. We enjoyed the Christmas market and its wonderful activities. After a good hot chocolate with whipped cream, we slept very well. No noise at night. Motorhome users, stop complaining when municipalities accept us.Translating
Very good for stopping and visiting the fortress. We only stopped for lunch and visited; we did not test it overnight.Translating
Well located for visiting the village, although somewhat noisy due to passing cars, but nothing excessive. The spaces are sloped, but it is a car park, not a motorhome area. The village centre is easily reached thanks to the free lift, which closes at 11 p.m. Overall, the car park is quite good; we spent a quiet night.Translating
For a city like Chinon, I certainly did not expect such a poorly designed area. You cannot sleep because of the proximity to the road, and the slope is unacceptable. Even after positioning the levelling blocks, it is impossible to stay level. I was cooking and the pot tipped into the sink.Translating
You cannot design motorhome parking spaces this steep! It would have been enough to place the motorhomes at the back of the lot toward the meadow; they would have been more level and farther from the road noise.Translating
Good place to park for visiting the Fortress or old town. A lift down into town is available a 5-10 minute walk away. A little bit sloped for staying the night but do able if required.
Unfortunately, the toilets are still out of order, apart from the urinal. What a shame. With a van under 2.20 metres, you can park and spend the night well in the rear section, even level. There is a beautiful footpath to the old town; alternatively, you can take the lift down for free, including bicycles.Translating
Good free parking for visiting the castle and town. The toilets are currently out of order, but two others are available a little farther down by the car park.Translating
Thanks to the Chinon municipality for providing free motorhome parking, but it is impossible to spend the night because it is too steep. Still, three stars for the detail.Translating
It's fine; it's free, for the complainers in the shadows, and what more do you want? It is summer.Translating
Good free spot for the night close to Chinon town centre. Facilities out of order at this car park but a short walk down to the next car park there were facilities open through the night. The car park is slightly sloped but was fine for me. Little bit of road noise and other campervans pulling up late at night.
Authorised motorhome parking, completely sloped and noisy. I did not stay overnight, but it served me for visiting the town.Translating
Thanks to the municipality for this free car park.
Thank you to the municipality. It is really unfortunate to put motorhomes without shade beside the road and cars farther from the road. To these engineers...
Terrible parking. In the sun, with motorhomes 15 cm apart, and on a slope. For €20–25 there is a fabulous campsite along the river, 200 metres from the centre.
Good place to sleep and be at the fortress first thing. We slept with five or six other motorhomes. Although it is beside the road, you can sleep well.
Well-located parking for going into town, not far from Aldi. However, there are no services despite what is stated (water), and the parking is sloped with no shade.
Perfect free parking for parking and visiting the town. We did not sleep here. Thanks to the municipality!
Free parking, well located for visiting the castle and town.
