Lakeside forest, no turnaround

A magnificent place. You can park level at the bottom left, right at the start of the hiking trail. Very, very quiet at night; lots of people during the day, so finding a space can be difficult if you arrive too early. During the day, it is impossible to turn around with a motorhome. Fine for a van. Beautiful hikes nearby.✦Translating

Magnificent view of the lake, but the place is very busy and there are few level spaces. On the other hand, it is ideal as a starting point for hikes to other equally beautiful places. No services.✦Translating

We arrived mid June, during a heatwave, only to find out you can’t swim in the lake! It was very crowded. We tried to stick it out but decided to hedge our bets and continue further up the road, and we were so glad we did. Found a quieter and cooler spot with access to hikes.

We spent an afternoon and night here, enjoying the place all to ourselves after 5 PM. There are three parking lots spread across two levels. We particularly liked the one closest to the forest. The lovely walk around the lake takes about 45 min. You can buy cheese right at the beginning of the trail. At night, it was wonderfully quiet, with no lights to disrupt the peacefulness of the starry sky.

I parked here to walk around the lake. At 6 PM, only two cars remained; it was very quiet and cool. However, there was no signal, so I went back to Beaufort.✦Translating
