Been here?
This paved parking area beside the former ferry landing is directly on the Elbe, with beautiful views and a quiet natural setting. The ferry has stopped operating, so the platform can currently be reached by vehicle. Anglers may visit in the evening, while recent reports ask visitors to avoid camping behaviour. Parking in the shore area has previously been associated with a 150€ fine.

The place is very beautiful and relaxing. You hear lots of nature, can let the dogs run (as long as they are relaxed), and can even watch beavers in the evening and at night. We stayed here with other campers, and everyone still had their own space.
I can only agree with the other comments. A beautiful spot on the Elbe. In the afternoon we stood at the small pier and enjoyed the fantastic view. For the night we stood in the regular parking area next to the remains of the former border fence. Please keep the turning radius clear for buses.
The ferry has stopped operating. It is likely that the bus no longer runs either because of this. Please do not behave as if camping.
Quiet, beautiful view, clean grounds, and all of it free. The ferry is currently not operating. A shame for the group of cyclists who had to turn back empty-handed. A moment of reflection that the Elbe here was the border between two Germanys that could not be crossed.
We spent a quiet night in the ferry parking area (also the Hans Georg Lemme Memorial Site, commemorating a tragic fatal escape). The ferry stopped running after 5:00 p.m., so there was no through traffic at all.
An absolutely dreamy spot directly on the Elbe, next to the ferry—complete peace and quiet, with a great view of Schnackenburg. The friendly ferryman warned us on his second trip that the police regularly patrol and that parking along the shore costs €150. We preferred to have breakfast in the equally lovely small parking area above.
Really great, with a great view from above in the actual parking area too. We will try the beach.
A truly enchanting place. It is astonishing that nobody has mentioned the lovely little beach. I did my morning yoga there while little fish jumped along the shore. We spontaneously extended our stay by one night, took a bike ride through the attractive surroundings, admired the sunset, and met many friendly people.
Very quiet parking area once the ferry service for the day has ended. Then there are only a few anglers here.
