The Stables, Kingussie Railway Station, PH21 1ER, Kingussie
Been here?
A basic motorhome area with marked hard-standing bays near the railway, offering mountain views and access to the village. An overnight stay costs £10, while fresh water and grey- and black-water disposal are available for £5. Trains are noticeable but not always troublesome, and recent reports describe the toilet as blocked and the setup as dirty. Shops, cafés and walks are nearby.

We only emptied the grey water and toilet cassette. One star and £1 each for that. I would never spend the night here.Translating
£5 in the honesty box for grey- and black-water disposal, fresh water and rubbish disposal, including general and recycling. Excellent!Translating
Perfect for emptying and refilling, £5.Translating
Please don’t come here expecting a euro style aire. It is nothing more than several marked (ish) parking bays on a hard standing. Not worth £10. Alongside railway, humming sub station, severely blocked toilet (and for some time), portaloo’s locked (one had been broken open). Doubtful fresh water source, grey waste is available.
We emptied our tanks there. Very convenient for grey water, black water and fresh water. Ridiculously cheap. Bring change because it is self-service and there is only an honesty box, with no online payment.Translating
Our 2nd stay at this excellent european style Aire, for £10 a night. Overlooking the mountains, we saw the Royal Scotsman Luxury train. Fresh water, grey waste drive over and WC disposal. Great walks, cafes, shops and bars nearby. Recommend the Sugar Bowl, Dog Friendly cafe in the main Street. Why the previous reviewer feel unsafe, im not quite sure of ? What's not to like. we'll be back again.
quite a squalid set up. by looks it os part of livery stable. the provided toilet /sink cubicle is a health hazard. the toilet was blocked, and looked as if it had been for a while. yes there is gray, and black drop off & fresh water pick up. we payed £10 for proposed stay, however after further inspection we elected not to stay, we moved on and found a convenient lay by.
Basic, cheap and cheerful. If you’re a rail fan you’ll love it. The trains aren’t terribly noisy. No, it’s not glamorous, but it’s a solid venue. I do recommend having a self contained bathroom, but there are porta potties if needed.
Okay for a snack stopover; we didn’t stay the night.Translating
Grim. Dirty and untidy, we didn't feel safe so moved on
Stayed 10th May. Great spot off the main road. Other vans beside us and campers across in a field. Grey and black emptying. Fresh water. Trains never bothered us. Well worth £10. It would be great if there was a lot more like this around Scotland.
Emptied both waste tanks and refilled with water. Great for £5. Didn't stay so cannot comment. But close to the village and amenities.
Brilliant stop and campervan services point for £5.00 in the honesty box thankyou
We stayed here last night - Sun 8th Feb. we had been to visit the old barracks and decide to stop here so I could walk into town and get and Indian takeaway from the Royal Tandoori - and it was great. The site has everything except hookup which is great for £10. We parked up facing the railway lines & the trains didn't bother us. So, great place to empty your loo and waste water & get fresh water
we stopped to empty the toilet waste, it's a donation in an honesty box, the elsan and water point is on the right as you enter a yard just before the toilet, we didn't stay the night but had a quick look and it's flat so appears okay but it does seem like you drove through an industrial estate or farm
A great place; for this price we were extremely satisfied. The services were fine, the trains didn’t bother us, and it is close to a great café and the town, with plenty of interesting places nearby.Translating
Ignore the reviews saying it isn’t nice. A great stop, yes it’s next to the train tracks but very quiet at night, the trains aren’t very noisy in the day either. Didn’t use toilet as we have our own but the facilities are ideal for a stop especially in self contained vans. Includes full services if staying overnight(£10) or £5 for service use only.
Very convenient place to empty the grey and black water and fill the water tank. However, we found that it was not well signposted. The disposal area is immediately on the right after passing the two trees. Do not continue to the camping pitches.Translating
Arrived late at night after a long day driving, 2 spaces left, prompt response from owner when text them, facilities to fill water and empty waste and toilet blocks (toilets ok did the job) honesty box to pay
Good to do services, but we didn't stay for the night. It all seems a bit rundown.
£15 to park overnight and use toilet. Toilet was not very clean at all. Motorhome parking was right next to the train tracks but we didn’t hear it too much. Not the most scenic stop but was okay for an overnight stay. Shops about a 5/10 minute walk away which was handy.
Very convenient for a short stop; everything is set up for filling and emptying.Translating
Very convenient for service and disposal: grey and black water, fresh water, but no rubbish. Everything costs £5 in cash in the honesty box. Apparently overnight stays are also possible in summer for £10, but we did not use that. Overnight stays can be booked and paid for online via QR code; service and disposal only can be paid for in cash through the honesty box.Translating
We need more of these!!! Thank you!! On our way home from France, and thos is perfect for doing th3 last emptying if G&B waters before hitting Inverness where there is nothing like this !! straight forward, loads of good signage. We will be back!
Right by the railway, which does not run at night. Horses in view, and if you walk a few steps, countless rabbits. The place is like a flea market, but not without charm.Translating
1. Excellent for emptying and filling for £5. 2. Right by the station, perfect for trainspotters.Translating
Inexpensive and convenient place for emptying, near the railway line with trains in the evening and early morning. Quiet at night.Translating
I would agree wholeheartedly with the previous comment. We stayed because we were going to a function in the village but will bear it in mind as a service point on future travels as well as a place to stay
Good area that meets your needs. It is in a horse arena, surrounded by work machinery, with the train platform right next to it. No trains can be heard at night, but they can during the day. It is fine for an overnight stop, as it has grey- and black-water filling and emptying facilities, and the price is reasonable.Translating
