A quiet, free parking area near Appenzell, next to the road and railway but calm at night. A public toilet and trash bin are on site, and a bakery sits just across the road. Surface is slightly sloped rather than flat. Great base for hiking, with train and tram access nearby making it easy to explore the region without a car.

Clean place. Near the road and train/bus services, yet quiet at night. Beautiful surroundings for hiking. Maximum 24 hours, as signposted.
Great parking, free, and in a beautiful area next to the town of Appenzell. People passing by did not mind, in my case, camping behavior such as putting a camping chair beside the car.
Unfortunately the surface is not flat at all and the street is quite loud (from 9pm until 6am it’s quiet). Besides, there is at least a toilette and a trash can. View is not that special compared to other places around the area. I still spent a nice night there but wouldn’t recommend it for more than that. You are allowed to park free for 24hours.
Our second time here. Still just as good. The proximity of the train and walking trails makes it an ideal place to explore the whole region.
Simple but completely adequate place for a quiet overnight stay. We stopped here twice during our trip. Free, with a clean toilet.
