12 Headford Road, H91 D6X6, Galway
Been here?
A large daytime parking area near Galway city centre, suitable for motorhomes and convenient for visiting the city on foot. The current rate is 10€ for the day, paid online because the machines are broken, and overnight parking is prohibited. Vehicles over 2.28m must avoid turning right on exit because of a height-restricted bridge.

The ideal parking area for motorhomes, authorized for visiting Galway.
Rate has gone up to 10€ for the day. Most nearby shops are no longer an option to pay the fee, all machines are broken and don't seem to be getting fixed any time soon. So the only option is to pay online. Our transaction failed multiple times before eventually working. Proximity to the city is good and this is literally the only decent parking option in Galway.
Parking suitable for converted vans—payment by app.
Very quiet. 24 hours for €6.50. Technically overnight stays are not allowed, but we saw people staying all night.
Great parking area for visiting the city. Download the app to pay €6.50 until 6:30 p.m.; staying overnight is not possible.
You cannot sleep here. We parked for a few hours to see Galway. You can walk to the city center. It costs €6.50 for the full day; payment by the hour is not possible. All the payment machines are broken, so you can only pay with an app. We arrived at 6:00 p.m. (payment was supposedly required until 6:30 p.m., but we did not pay because we could not download the app, and we had no problems). I recommend it because it is on the outskirts and you do not have to drive the camper into the city.
This city does not want us!!! Do not come from the north, because the bridge really does limit the height to 2.28 m. €6.50 for the day. Free from 6:30 p.m., but you cannot sleep there. We preferred not to visit this city, which is unwelcoming to us.
Convenient parking, €6.50 for the day, not far from the city center (overnight parking prohibited). But be careful: do not leave the parking area on the right, as the bridge has a height limit of 2.30 m.
Very large parking area close to the city center and cathedral. No barrier. Parking for all types of motorhomes. €6.50 during the day. Sign says: “No overnight parking.”
Suitable place for parking motorhomes of all sizes. Follow the signs to bus parking. We visited the site for a day visit.
Great place to visit Galway for €6.50. People who received a fine either did not pay or did not follow the no-overnight-stay rules. In short, if you follow the rules, this is a perfect base for visiting the city. Do not forget the Galway City Museum. Very enjoyable.
Great parking area for a city stroll in Galway—10 minutes on foot to the center. Also suitable for very large motorhomes. Vehicles over 2.30 m must NOT turn right when leaving the parking area!! There is a height-restricted bridge with no possibility to turn around.
Easy parking, no height limit. You have to pay with the app as all machines were out of order.
€6.50 for the day, near the cathedral and Latin Quarter +++ Aldi, Lidl, and other shops nearby.
Paid parking for the day (€6.50), ideal for going for a walk in Galway. Remember to pay for the parking; the authorities are always around.
There was no height restriction at the back. For €6.50 and five minutes on foot from the city center, you can park very well in this city, which does not like campers.
One of the few places where you can comfortably park in Galway with a vehicle higher than 2 m and longer than 5 m. We had no problems, but we only stayed during the day. The parking ticket is valid for 24 hours. It is a 15-minute walk into town.
Warning: on Sundays, the lower part of the parking area is used for car rallies—noise and the smell of hot tires.
