Harty Ferry Rd, ME12 4BG, Sheerness
Been here?
A hard-standing, fairly level daytime parking area at RSPB Capel Fleet, intended for around 10 vehicles and surrounded by marshland wildlife. It can be very quiet, with birds, frogs and occasional tractors, while the water station behind is loud during the day. The entrance road is badly ridged and muddy after rain, there are no bins, and local birdwatchers and residents have objected to vehicles.

There were three of us at the spot on 1 August 2025. The spot is very quiet; the entrance is a little bumpy, but nothing a VW van cannot handle. No rubbish bins, so please take your waste with you. Some comments report unhappy locals, so be careful about your arrival and departure times.Translating
Locals aren’t happy with people parking here. We were here with one other guy who had his motorhome scratched when he wouldn’t leave. The local birdwatching group are reporting vehicles as a disturbance to wildlife due to the fires and litter. The designated stop at Leysdown was much better.
Nice spot, completely silent apart from birds and frogs and the odd passing tractor. The road is fine so don't let it put you off. It has an annoying creased ridge in the middle but it's a good surface and in the most ridged sections I just drove on the other side.
Road in bad repair when we tried to stay here, sunk at either side with raised middle section. We turned back, as we were worried about scraping our undercarriage and causing damage. Sounds like others have made it there without issues though. We are in a MWB Renault master camper van.
