393 Seestrasse, 8124, Maur
Been here?
Lakeside parking right by the harbor in Maur, popular for a single overnight stop. Free from 19:00-8:00, paid (about 1 CHF/hour) up to a max of 15 hours during the day, coins only. Level gravel and asphalt surface, clean public toilets nearby (closed at night per one report), a restaurant close by and a lakeside promenade with cycling and walking paths. Overnight parking is officially banned and police or a security service occasionally check and move campers on, though many still stay undisturbed. Wind can carry an unpleasant smell from a nearby treatment plant.

We spent a quiet night and nobody disturbed us. Free parking from 7 p.m. to 8 a.m. Toilets nearby at the neighboring landing stage. Perfect for one night while passing through.
The parking area is actually only for cars, although there is no explicit prohibition for campers. I was able to discreetly park my van on the gravel section for one night. The area is level, sloping at the edges. Public toilets at the landing stage are clean and open 24 hours. In summer, smells from the adjacent wastewater treatment plant could be disturbing. At the end of April there were absolutely no smells.
Great place for one night. Once the buses stop running in the evening, it is also very quiet. Inexpensive for Switzerland.
Super quiet place. Not completely level, but that did not bother us.
The parking area is level, opposite the lake, and public toilets are available, as well as a restaurant! However, I left because there is a wastewater treatment plant next to the parking area and it gives off an extremely unpleasant smell!
Great parking area for spending the night. Quiet, beside the lake, with walks, cycling, and boating. Next to the wastewater treatment plant, which is right behind it but hidden. No smell today.
Clean place and level ground. Restaurant nearby. Lovely setting beside the lake. Toilets closed at night.
Simple parking area in a very idyllic location; the toilets and parking area are very clean.
Beautiful place. Toilets and the lake are about 50 meters away. We stayed here for two nights.
One part is gravel and the other asphalt. Several motorhomes or minibuses were on the gravel side. Parking is paid seven days a week from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. There is no prohibition on staying overnight, and we were not disturbed. Quiet night, no smell from the nearby wastewater treatment plant. Huge numbers of mosquitoes in the evening, making it difficult to eat outside. The scheduled bus from 8 a.m. may disturb late risers.
Quiet night. Paid from 8 a.m. Only the smell from the wastewater treatment plant when you are at the far end and the wind blows toward you, but otherwise it is perfect.
This place would be beautiful… Unfortunately, it is strictly forbidden to spend the night in a motorhome here. Parking without staying overnight is permitted for 15 hours. After we had prepared our motorhome to spend the night on the site on Thursday evening, September 9, 2021, the police came by and politely explained this to us. If we had already been asleep, we would have received a hefty fine. So we left.
