Rural parking, frequent train horns

This rural car park beside Strensall Common offers walks and access to Strensall’s shops and pubs, with good access from the A64. No signs prohibiting overnight parking are currently reported, but a very loud train horn sounds every 10-15 minutes from 06:00-23:30. The area is also near railway tracks and military grounds, with regular dog walkers.

good place for walks i to Strensall common. not sure what the last comment was about but there is definitely no signs prohibiting overnight parking. only issue is the very loud train horn every 10-15 minutes from 06:00-23:30
no more overnight parking. New sign just gone up.
Pulled up late thinking it would be a good spot. another van here already. lots of activity from the place opposite which I decided against staying as I use a roof tent.
layby near train tracks on military grounds. 2bar of 5g on EE. lots of dog walkers. view is now almost entirely obscured as trees have grown
Excellent spot! Had campfire going, slept soundly.
Stayed here last night with no issues and was fine this time last year too. There are some freight trains pass through the night but felt safe and slept well, hear some shooting in the distance from 830am but there’s a time table on display to tell you when they will be training for the week.
Stayed one night. I had no issues. But there are signs warning of MOD training.
Arrived late afternoon it looked like an ideal spot. However just after dark there was a noise outside, something hit my windscreen (possible a BB gun) which has left a small hole in the windscreen. Didn't stay, as didn't feel safe!
