Been here?
A free, fairly flat car park at Whickham Thorns Activity Centre, suitable for a simple overnight stop. There are no posted restrictions, gates or height restrictions, although the nearby A1 creates some motorway noise. It is close to woodland walks, a cafe and the Metrocentre, about a 10 minute walk away. A bus to Newcastle costs £2 and takes 10 minutes.

Ideal overnight stop on the long journey from Scotland to Le Shuttle.
Nice little spot. Stayed here three nights and nothing untoward. Few dog walkers by day and taxi drivers by night.
Nothing glamorous but did the job and had a decent nights sleep.
Parked up at dusk last night Monday. Had a stroll around the woodland before settling down only a few cars coming and going as the cafe was shut. Left around 8am. No bother whatsoever. You could definitely walk to the Metrocentre from here. Great spot
Very quiet residential area. We spent one night alone but felt completely safe. Slightly uneven ground. Recommended for a stopover.
excellent, lots of space.10 minute walk to the metro center. lovely cafe (the barn). stopped here and went to the Fed to see Katie Hopkins.
We parked here in the morning and went sightseeing in Newcastle, then stayed here overnight as well. It was quiet and we slept well
what a great little parkup dog and child friendly, bus into city center for £2, the cafe owners are very nice people please remember to use the cafe the cakes and traybakes are out of this world ! carpark can get busy during the day with kids party's being on at the scouts hall but very peaceful at night. we will go back.
Nice, peaceful place to stay. We were parked slightly crooked, but that was no problem. A bus stop about a 5-minute walk away takes you to Newcastle city centre for £2 in 10 minutes. In the morning, many parents bring their children to school from here, so it feels busier. Recommended for staying one night.
Stopped here to visit the city. Parked Early and got a Uber to and from the city fairly cheap. Spend the night with no problems at all. Had a peaceful night. Would highly recommend this spot for a city visit.
Great little stop over. no issues, slight road noise because I parked near the bushes next to the road.
We spent one night here very comfortably. The road is nearby but separated by trees and bushes, creating a discreet parking area. It is at the entrance to a sports complex and a café. Recommended for sleeping without attracting attention
