A87, PH35 4HR, Bun Loyne
Been here?
Bun Loyne is a roadside parking area with mostly level spaces, beautiful loch and mountain views, good phone signal and a short walk to the loch. The road is busy with cars and walkers in the morning but becomes quieter in the evening. The entrance has potholes, there are no services or bins, and the number of flat spaces is limited. Midges can be numerous when the wind drops.

Great park up for the night. Seven vans here when we stayed. Mostly level, however entrance fairly “pot holed”. Busy with walkers and cars in the morning. Short walk down the track to the loch side. Fairly sheltered. Good phone signal. When the wind drops though, the midgies are rife! No bins or services so be mindful to take any rubbish with you.
Splendid stopping place, level, with a wonderful view. Very peaceful.Translating
Magnificent place, level pitch, but beware of ruts at the entrance. Swimming is possible.Translating
We stayed here for one night with a fantastic view. The road noise becomes quieter at night and did not bother us at all. There was room for three or four motorhomes.Translating
Beautiful surroundings, wonderful view, parking area slightly away from the road. Space for four or five campers; there were two when we stayed overnight.Translating
Good overnight spot for a one-night stopover. Nice view and a small walk to the lake nearby. I arrived around 6pm and still got a space, but many more vehicles arrived later, so it seems to be a popular place. The night was mostly quiet, with only occasional cars passing by. From around 7am onwards, traffic noise became more noticeable.
Great spot, but it is a shame about the large potholes. Very quiet night.Translating
Excellent place, with level areas and different levels. You do not block one another’s view. Lots of space and away from the road. There is also a lovely path to the loch.Translating
This was always our favourite spot. So peaceful, gorgeous views and great for walking. But unfortunately, some people seem to think it's acceptable to leave their toilet tissue and crap!!!! It's disgusting, bag it, and take it with you to dispose of in a bin the same as dog waste. PLEASE leave no trace.
Magnificent spot where several vehicles can stay, with an incredible view over the lake! Surprisingly good 5G reception. No services available.Translating
Best park up I’ve stopped at, woke to the sun over the loch. No other cars/van, very level and quiet after 10pm. BUT.. why oh why are people so disgusting leaving their ‘used’ tissues in the hedges etc? I don’t understand that mentality. The place was looking a bit messy. No bins so take all rubbish with you.
Magnificent spot with mountains all around. Little noise at night from lorries passing on the road above, but not disturbing. Be aware that the area may seem large, but the number of level spaces is limited and it is regularly busy. We were lucky enough to see deer 20 metres from the van at night.Translating
lovely stop over, so close to the loch where I had a lovely swim, quite at night, not much traffic noise and a lovely level place to park with amazing views
Good for one night but the road is noisy and it’s super crowded during season.
Beautiful place with gorgeous views. Camped here for the night and slept very well. Got very busy in the evening but not a problem at all. Perfect place for a gorgeous little swim in the loch too. No amenities here though and lots of midges as expected.
Incredible spot on the way! It’s usually very crowded. 7 to 8 motorhome can stay but there is also another close parking 400 yards afterward. The spot is amazing also because you can have a short walk (5/10minutes) to the Loch. Just keep in mind that it can be full of Midges
Great place and, depending on how you park, with a view of the lake. It is a shame that some people show no consideration regarding the space. Parking small campers there while blocking the remaining space for larger vehicles is absolutely unacceptable.Translating
Good, spacious place near the lake. No facilities, but free.Translating
Beautiful, magical and peaceful place. Unfortunately full of midges, making it impossible to stay outside in the evening.Translating
Unbelievably beautiful place. Parking was free, with a good internet connection, but there were lots of midges in the morning and evening.Translating
We passed this spot by as we thought there were better places further on. After viewing other places we came back. We spotted a white tailed eagle on arrival, beautiful view, peaceful night
Spaces suitable even for large motorhomes. Wonderful view; the road is quiet at night. Perfect for one night.Translating
Nice place to stay for one night. Fairly quiet at night. There are good opportunities for a short hike around the area.Translating
Nice place for one night. Hiking possible. Road noise is limited. Quiet at night.Translating
Very good place for one night. On the road to Skye, so there is traffic fairly late and early, but nothing that prevents sleeping. Space for several campervans and level ground, with the possibility of walking to see the loch.Translating
We spent one night here with our van in April. Magnificent place, with hikes toward the loch or the mountain. Some activity in the morning—hikers or people taking photos—but nothing too disturbing. I think there was room for at least four motorhomes.Translating
Nice spot with a small path leading to the loch. Busy road above, but fairly quiet at night. Several vans were present. Some rubbish on site, which is a shame.Translating
Great view, good starting point for various tours in the area. No services for motorhomes, but some level pitches. Traffic can be disturbing, but calms down in the evening.
Parked there in November 2024. Plenty of flat areas to park up. Minimal traffic noise at night. Lovely views to wake up to. Excellent mobile reception.
Stayed here for one night very peaceful nights sleep. A good walk just over the road for me and the dog. A bit of traffic noise during the day, could spend a couple of days here. Excellent.
Great spot for a stop over. Great views over the loch. Expect to see a herd of deer passing, good internet, level areas to park. Only down side is the traffic during the day but reasonably quiet at night marked as a favourite
Beautiful place! Several campers, so arrive early. Slept very well. The weather was bad with strong winds—almost a storm—but there are lower areas where you are sheltered. You can also enjoy a good walk here with the dog. Definitely recommended.Translating
We arrived late at around 9pm and we managed to find a slot facing the loch, although we had no idea of the beauty of the spot, the morning was spectacular! Saw a little doe on our arrival! Lots of campers but very quiet night
Spent a peaceful night here. Several campers with us, but no disturbance. Magnificent view of the lake and a beautiful sunrise. Below the road, but little noise at night.Translating
