Panoramastrasse Oberaar, 3864, Guttannen
Been here?
Sunny daytime viewpoint before the Grimsel pass, mostly level with light slope, but the commune now bans overnight parking despite the listing here; travellers were fined and sent away in 2025. Historically fee-based overnight parking (around CHF 10-20) via the Hotel Alpenrösli existed, sometimes waived with a restaurant meal, but this arrangement appears gone. Windy and cool evenings, quiet at night, busy with motorcycles by day, toilets and free WiFi via the hotel when open.

Very nice during the day. Slightly sloping, but unfortunately the municipality does not allow overnight parking, even though it belongs to the hotel.
Warning! Rangers, police, and wildlife authorities carry out checks. The site is closed.
Wonderful view, great daytime spot! However, it is now signposted as no camping.
Warning! The site has a no-camping restriction from 22:00 to 07:00. It can be used free of charge as a daytime parking area.
Place is now CHF 20 and check-in is via a QR code. Does not belong to Alpenrössli anymore, (although the parking lot is still full of signs). Zero facilities, but a great sunset. Not sure if you can still use restrooms at the Hotel. A bit further up the road is CHF 10, a bit further down it is free...
Nice large parking area. Slightly sloping. A little away from the road, so fairly quiet. The CHF 10 parking fee is perfectly reasonable. Very lovely staff. Toilets may always be used when the restaurant is open. If you spend CHF 30, the parking fee is refunded, so it is free! Thanks for providing this place. Otherwise, parking is prohibited everywhere in the Grimsel Valley. What a shame.
Great place for an overnight stay: stunning view, quiet at night, and if you need Wi-Fi, there is free Wi-Fi in the hotel at the pass.
