Been here?
Small, basic campsite beside the road, directly at the start of the route to Poenari Castle and the Transfagarasan. There are only 2 toilets and 2 showers, with hot water and generally clean facilities, but no drinking-water tap. An electric fence protects the site from bears, while road traffic from 6-7h and music until 10.30 can make it noisy. A van for 2 people without electricity was reported at 80 Leí.

An OK stop but not the best campsite we’ve stayed in. Facilities are clean and showers hot, but there’s only 2 of each. It’s very noisy because it’s next to the road and music on until 10.30. The nearby restaurant was very nice. We had a bear alert in a town nearby so we’re glad to be behind electric fence and gate.
It is a small campsite with two toilets and two showers, available on a first-come, first-served basis. I would give the cleanliness a 7; it works because there is no other alternative but to stay here. Value for money for two people without electricity and a van: 80 lei.Translating
Small and simple campsite, equipped with the essentials, with well-maintained bathrooms. Excellent place to start the Transfagarasan road. Accessible to all vehicles.Translating
Five motorhome pitches on level ground beside the road, €22.Translating
Nice, small campsite as a starting point or destination for the Transfagarasan, clean, partly shaded, restaurant nearby, secured by an electric fence; bears were seen in the evening.Translating
30 RON per person, 20 RON for the vehicle, 20 RON for electricity, for our family a total of 160 RON. Cash only, cards not accepted. Next to the road. Little traffic at night, but from 6–7 a.m. there is already noise. The showers and toilets are good. Empty the gray tank on the site. Empty the black tank into the toilet bowl. There is no tap for filling water.Translating
Small site directly beside the road. Relatively quiet at night. Only a few pitches for larger motorhomes. Mostly very sloping terrain. Apparently renting cabins to motorcyclists is the main business. Sanitary facilities are decent. For 80 RON for a motorhome and two people, a very fair price. No toilet or gray-water disposal.Translating
A nice little campsite. We saw a brown bear on the wall across the road. We felt safe thanks to the electric fence. Completely fine for the price. We received a very friendly welcome. Directly at the entrance to Poenari Castle. Unfortunately, no drinking water.Translating
Site directly beside the road. Secured against bears by an electric fence. Sanitary facilities OK and clean. Plenty of hot water for showers. The washing-up sink was very dirty and the water pipes were defective. There was also a lot of rubbish on the ground. We stayed one night at the end of September 2025. Good starting point for visiting the ruins of Peles.Translating
For one night stay, it was OK. In the bathroom is hot water, electricity available. Close to the road, with electric fence agains bears (we saw one behind our roof tent during the night). The place is safe and with the direct entrance to the Poenari castle.Water is not drinkable,so bring some for drinking with you.Price 25€ (1adult+1child+electricity - roof tent).
locations good and toilets work. other than that it's a small sloped field on the road. No sign of black or grey water disposal and the poenari castle is completely locked up after 15.00. I was going to walk up the steps and view from outside but you can't even get past the gate on the road outside of it's opening hours. Shower also requires a separate key that we weren't told about or offered
If your main concern is being protected from bears, it serves its purpose; otherwise, it is not particularly recommended! The sanitary facilities are also merely functional. It is OK for one night before driving up the Transfăgărășan. There is a small playground and cabins for rent. Those interested can walk up to the ruins of Vlad Țepeș. There are around 1,400 steps.Translating
Campsite directly beside the road, but relatively quiet at night. Toilets and showers are nothing special, price is OK, good starting point for the Transfagarasan.Translating
Safe site, as long as everyone who drives in or out is not too lazy to close the gate again. Bears are present and rummage through the trash bins; otherwise, you can feel very comfortable here.Translating
Man, i dont give a fuck that owner is not friendly. I have spot to safely sleep in the tent for 6 euros, have shower, where to piss and thats enough. If you want to have everything perfect book airbnb or smth
Good starting point for a tour to the Poenari ruins. The pitch is relatively level. The owner is not necessarily unfriendly, but rather reserved. Sanitary facilities are so-so. Toilets cannot be locked. Black- and gray-water disposal could not be found.Translating
uneven site. owner not interested and not friendly. toilets just about ok . you have to get water from toilets. side of busy road . but it's a means to an end and is ok for 1 night 19 euros for 2 people in camping car including electric. you also have to park outside first then pay and book in he will not open gate until you have paid
100 RON for a camper with two people and electricity. The pitch is uneven (you need more than two leveling blocks) and directly beside the road. Very noisy during the day. The site manager is not really interested. Information is only provided when asked and somewhat reluctantly. The sanitary facilities are clean enough, but no more than that.Translating
A little poor, uneven terrain; we stayed one night while traveling south. Four people and a motorhome with electricity: 160 lei.Translating
