Hiking parking, crowded at times

More of a motorhome parking area. The hike is recommended only in good weather. Good for one night.

We did the Knivjeloden hike at night to see the midnight sun. The parking lot is at the start of the trail. We expected to be woken early because of the road and the large number of motorhomes, but no—the night was quiet. There is a large rubbish container on site.

Good spot—it fills up very quickly, so you need to arrive very early or at the right time when the hikers are returning. Clean and peaceful; you cannot ask for much more.

A very good place to get to the North Cape. We were at the North Cape at 9:00 in the morning, then drove to this parking area and slept for a while. Overnighting here naturally cannot be compared with complete peace in nature. Some cars leave their engines running for hours so young couples in the cars do not freeze.

A great parking area in itself, both as a starting point for the hike to the “real” North Cape and for visiting the North Cape, 6.5 km away—easy by bicycle, and fine on foot too. But the parking area is very crowded. We arrived at 12:30 and barely found a space, partly because many people park very wide and take up 1.5 to 2 spaces. Please do better!

Great place if you go hiking late and return at night. We slept here for a few hours and left early to make room for new arrivals. Please do not stay here if you are hiking during the day or not hiking at all. It is quite cramped, so keep that in mind.

This is not a motorhome area but a trailhead parking lot; do not take advantage of the welcome.

Perfect parking area, very convenient for going to the North Cape. 6.5 km by bicycle. Right next to the hiking trail for discovering the beautiful Norwegian landscapes: 18 km round trip, six hours. For experienced hikers.

This is the trailhead parking lot. I do not think it is right for it to look like a motorhome area; one day it may simply be forbidden for us. Let us be reasonable—there is no shortage of space in the surrounding area.

Starting point for the hike to the “real” North Cape. Challenging hike, but absolutely manageable for normally fit people. Incredibly beautiful and highly recommended! The parking area was already completely full at 3 PM, so arrive early.

Used the parking area for a break. We initially wanted to stay overnight, but just before 10 PM we drove to the North Cape because the weather was perfect. Otherwise, there were many motorhomes and cars parked here, intending to leave for the North Cape the next day. Reindeer were everywhere, almost right outside the door. The site is level and has nothing else, just a large rubbish bin.

Spot allowing you to reach the tourist North Cape by bicycle and the geographical North Cape by hiking, six hours round trip. Too bad some people do not show solidarity by spreading over two spaces, while others forget to pick up after their four-legged companions.

Probably a good spot, but come early; it was already full today at 5:15 PM.

Ideal place to stay overnight after visiting the North Cape. Vehicles are parked tightly together. Nevertheless, we had a very quiet night.

Large parking area, no prohibition. Nobody came to move us on, contrary to what a previous comment said. The walk to the northern tip of the island starts here. Please note that the hike is 18 km and not always easy. At this time of year, there is still a lot of snow in places. We found people in difficulty.

On May 10, 2026, we slept there without any problems, accompanied by another French couple in a van. Very quiet night because there was no car traffic. We did the hike to the real North Cape in the afternoon.

We stopped in this parking lot to spend the night, but at 9 PM a municipal employee came and asked us to leave before 11 PM, saying that we could not sleep there.

We stayed there from July 23 to July 24. It was 4°C at night. The parking area is spacious and ideal for going to the North Cape. It fills up very quickly.

A stopover for us after visiting Nordkapp. The weather was awful at night, but it was not the end of the world. Great free stop, with rubbish bins available, so there is no excuse! Recommended as the trailhead.

A great parking area for one night after visiting the North Cape. A large rubbish container is available. Many other campers and cars with hikers, but it is quite quiet at night. The view of the lunar landscape is spectacular, though unfortunately there was no reindeer herd for us today. Internet speed is also very good. Good night.

Felt like a campsite. Last night we parked on the grassy area beside the containers. Ninety-eight percent of the vehicles here are campers. The hike is beautiful but also long; it is best not to do it in sneakers. When we returned in the evening, most people were dumping wastewater. Why do you have a wastewater tank? Directly beside the road, but quiet in the evening!

As many have said, this place is great for the longer hike. Spots tend to fill up for staying only one night is probably fair. Bring hiking shoes, even with many hot days lately the track can be muddy in some spots

Good spot to do the walk, we did this to see the end spot at sunset and walk back during the night time light, so convenient to get back to the van and sleep at 1am. Only park here for the purpose of the walk. Large bins for rubbish.

Great campsite; we parked here after visiting Nordkapp (overnight). Fantastic view of the barren landscape and the many hardworking hikers going to and from Nordkapp itself. Hats off! Early in the morning, we saw a large herd of reindeer farther up. It is impressive! And there is a huge dumpster!

Completely overloaded with campers. We were there in August because we wanted to hike to the northernmost point. The hike is no walk in the park.

Great hike, great parking. Very crowded though, was unlucky the sleep side by side with a persistent loud snorer.
