15 Maxau am Rhein, 76187, Karlsruhe
Been here?
Karlsruhe, 15 Maxau am Rhein is a free, level gravel parking area directly beside the Rhine for stays of up to 24 hours. It has no services and offers space for large motorhomes, with nearby cycling, restaurants, public transport and shopping across the bridge. The location is attractive for walks and dogs, but the motorway bridge and nearby roads can be very loud, especially at night. Recent reports describe both tolerable traffic noise and an exceptionally disruptive night.

Worst, loudest night by far. Awful noise from the bridge all night long. Not a minute of sleep. Keep driving, do not stop.
Suitable parking area for a stopover, very close to the Rhine. During our stay, a wedding took place at the nearby venue. Until 11 p.m. the music was bearable, but afterward it turned into a disco until morning. Earplugs unfortunately did not help, as the bass was so strong that everything vibrated. It may be quieter during the week.Translating
The location on the Rhine is beautiful. The motorway bridge is naturally audible. The spaces are relatively level. By bicycle, it is 10 minutes across the bridge to shop in Wörth. Large shopping center with supermarket, DIY store, camping supplies, etc. We felt safe. Enough spaces even for large motorhomes. Fine for a day and night!Translating
The parking area is well described. Not beautiful, but free and directly on the Rhine. Great for dogs. A walking route with swimming for the dog in the lake. Restaurants and public transport connections are available.Translating
Empty for once today, always pleasant on the Rhine, a bit noisy but practical.Translating
Good place to spend the night. Almost no motorway noise. It did not disturb our sleep.Translating
The motorway bridge is somewhat noisy at night.Translating
Very good; we stopped here. Beautiful view of the Rhine and a pleasant walk.Translating
Level gravel area directly on the Rhine. Near a main road and bridge, but the nighttime noise level was not bothersome. Stayed overnight on March 15, 2026.Translating
No services; according to the signs, maximum 24 hours. Very beautifully located on the Rhine. The motorway can be heard, but we did not find the noise bothersome.Translating
We left again after a short break. The noise from the road and bridge was enormous. Daxlanden, 12 km farther on, is very quiet.Translating
Very beautiful place directly on the Rhine, somewhat noisy because of the main road.Translating
Since the site is directly beneath the motorway bridge, the noise level is correspondingly high. With earplugs, it was possible to sleep reasonably well.Translating
Fine for one night. Beautiful view of the Rhine.Translating
You can hear the noise from the main road. Spacious place to spend one night.Translating
It is a good place to park. A little road noise.Translating
Great location. Directly on the banks of the Rhine.Translating
It is free, with no services. We slept well before continuing our journey.Translating
Unattractive place beside the river, noisy because of the motorway, with shade and level ground.Translating
The EnPlo restaurant is highly recommended! Very good Greek cuisine.Translating
The place itseft is pretty boring, due to high trees and no view at all. But if you go with a chair through the narrow passage – 25 m – you can sit direct to the Rhein and enjoy the traffic. You can also take a walk under the bridge and 600 m along the river to a nice family park (eating, drinking, playground)
Great stopover, the road is close but quieter at night and didn’t bother us. Lovely walk along the river to stretch the legs after a long drive. Thank you to the locals for providing this much needed parking place .
Although it is directly on the Rhine, it is also below a busy main road and in an industrial area. It was too noisy for us, so we drove a little farther. Hardier campers could certainly use it as an overnight stop while passing through.Translating
We spent one night here. Practical. We were able to sleep without any problems.
I stayed there from Saturday to Sunday. I was surprised by how quiet it was. Of course you can hear the cars a little, but you are back on the motorway within one minute.
Ideal for people with hearing damage. Loud, cramped, and restless. Why would anyone want to spend the night here? There are definitely better and quieter places in nature nearby. They are even listed on P4N. We moved on immediately.
