Mountain roadside, bouldered access

This is a spectacular and beautiful place early in the year when the reservoir is full of water. We visited again in September after a hot summer and there was no water near this spot just a dry lake bed. I’ve put up two photos to show difference. There is a free Aire in the town and we stayed there instead.

October 2023. The place remains very beautiful, but the now-dry lake is very far away. We decided to continue along the dirt road in the lakebed, where you can park almost anywhere. Be careful on rainy days, as there could be a lot of mud. Beautiful place.

Spectacular site. One negative point is its proximity to the road, but at night there is not enough traffic for it to become bothersome. Just below, beside the water, you cannot go down because a fence blocks the way. We slept with two other vans, and there was plenty of room for several more.

Beautiful place to stop. But too close to the road for overnight stays. Below, there is private property closed off with tape. Do not leave toilet paper behind!

A magnificent lake with a very special atmosphere, especially in rainy weather. The road leading there is also splendid! There is some noise from the road beside it, but otherwise no traffic apart from cows.

We spent a beautiful night under the stars. The downside is that we happened to visit at a time of year when this part of the reservoir was quite dry, but we still enjoyed a pleasant walk in the morning. Highly recommended.

One of our most beautiful spots. We went down into the unfortunately very dry lakebed, which creates a lunar landscape and the feeling of being alone in the world. You cannot swim there, but the scenery alone was enough to delight us.
