Fortress parking, adventurous access

Beautiful is definitely something else. Unfortunately, there are hardly any options in and around Boden. The road there is quite adventurous. I left again, partly because a few locals followed my every move very suspiciously.

We spent one night in this parking area, right next to the fortress. It is a very large open area, with spectacular views of the surroundings. A little outside the city and fairly secluded, but certainly very atmospheric.

Beautiful location, but tonight it was full of local youngsters. Not a problem in itself, but we went to look for another place.

We came here to have a look but drove on; it did not feel right to stay here.

If you want to see some southern sunshine in autumn, this is exactly the right place. For viewing the northern lights, take the footpath east/northeast, essentially walking around the fortress so it does not block the view. It can also be very windy up there. Access is still possible in autumn; it is somewhat forested and uneven, but manageable.

Beautiful spot, great view at the old fort. We were here during the week and, apart from a few climbers, nobody else was around.

Superb view. We stayed one night. Since it does not get dark at night at this time of year, young people repeatedly drove around in their cars. Everything was peaceful, though. The cliff face is equipped for free climbing.

The place was accessible without problems even in winter, and we were completely alone at the top. The view in the morning was fantastic!

Very nice, but we could not sleep there. It was Friday evening; a group of young people arrived with the music blasting and stayed for the evening. We settled a little lower down the road in the forest, where it was very quiet. In the morning we walked around the fortress; it is impressive.

We just spent the night there. Super quiet. Great view.
