Been here?
Søftestad Camping is a small campsite directly beside a large lake, with mountain views and a friendly, helpful owner. The reported price is 380 n.kr. without electricity or a shower. It has a washing machine and free canoe use, but the latest report found the toilets poor and noted road noise.

Beautiful view from the waterside spot, but too much road noise for my taste and poor toilet facilities. It costs 380 NOK without electricity or a shower, so it is on the expensive side. Super friendly and helpful owner.
Kind staff, good view, and just an amazing experience all around!
Beautiful little campsite, directly on the lake; everything is great and everything you need is there. Anna, the host, is incredibly kind and speaks German, English, Norwegian and Dutch. She gave us many tips, for example about hiking and cycling, and even got us a trout because we had no luck fishing. Simply a wonderful place. 10 points.
Absolutely lovely owner!!! Extremely beautiful campsite, and the shower and toilets are very clean. You can also fish here without any problems, for example for trout.
What a beautiful, small-scale place by the lake! We enjoyed our cabin and the view. Host Anne is wonderful and gave us a great tip for a lovely walk. It was wonderfully quiet in the low season. There is only one shower; that was fine now, but in high season you may have to wait a while. An absolute recommendation—we will definitely return!
Beautiful, quiet, small campsite directly on the lake. Wonderful view. Perfect in the low season. We had the whole site to ourselves. The owner Anne is very friendly. One star deducted because, despite the relatively high price of 380 NOK, there are only composting toilets. (Shower and electricity cost 30 NOK each.)
Beautiful campsite directly on the lake. We were lucky that there were only two other campers at the lake, so we could park right at the front by the water. Anne is very kind and also speaks German. We would definitely come back.
Such a beautiful, quiet, privately run campsite... we are lucky to have the place to ourselves... directly on the lake beside the stream, wonderful. Very friendly owner who also speaks German. Note: the campsite is open until September 30.
Wonderful place worth every krone. Anne warmly welcomes everyone. Free choice of pitch where possible. We stood close to the water with enough distance from the neighboring vehicle. Yes, there are composting toilets, but no problem. The showers and sanitary facilities, as well as the entire site, are very clean and lovingly designed. We will be back.
Amazing place with a stunning view. Super friendly owner, who makes you feel welcome from you arrive till you leave. It’s definitely a place to visit!!!
We stayed there for one night. The owner was more than friendly, but compared with the rest of our stays in Norway, it was quite expensive. Sanitary facilities were clean, although they are composting toilets.
Lovely place. Clean facilities. Swimming was fun.
Really friendly and attentive owner. It is simple, but has everything needed except gray-water disposal. Swimming in the lake is great. We will gladly return if we pass through this area again.
We stopped at this campsite just to wash our clothes in the washing machine. The manager is very, very kind and welcoming!
We can only give 2 stars. Anne welcomed us very warmly, but the smell from the toilet's treatment plant was quite disgusting. What a shame; we were very disappointed and ended up here because of the positive reviews. The lake is wonderful and offers plenty of time to relax. One shower is also too few for the number of people, even though everything was clean.
Very beautiful and clean campsite, but the toilets are old. The owner is very friendly and helpful. We would return anytime!
We can only agree with the previous reviewers. Thank you, Anne; we felt very comfortable and can only recommend this place. We will come back.
Super beautiful little camp lovingly run by Anne! Everything needed except gray-water disposal. Wonderful view of the lake. We enjoyed it very much!
Very pretty nature campsite by the water. It would need at least a second shower and stronger Wi-Fi. But the welcome was incredibly warm—thank you, Anne!
We had a great private pitch directly on the water between two absent permanent campers. It is worth calling ahead! The owner is extremely nice and speaks fluent German. Apart from gray-water disposal, the site has everything necessary.
A very beautiful campsite with a fantastic location by the water. We called Anne beforehand, and she reserved an excellent pitch for us. This lovingly run place was exactly what we needed to relax for three days. We ended up here because of the many recommendations, and it is exactly as described. A highlight of our holiday. Thank you, Anne!
Dream location and charming owner. Thank you, Anne! We got the most beautiful pitch right by the water. Canoes and paddle boats can be borrowed free of charge. There is only one shower, but it is very clean. The toilets are composting toilets, but clean and odor-free. We would come back anytime, and stayed for two nights because it was so wonderful!
A wonderful site as per previous comments. Ann is so friendly and welcoming (made us a cup of tea when we arrived). We were able to machine wash all our clothes and linen (30Nk including washing liquid) and air dry them (pegs provided). you can cycle 3k to a small chain ferry and enjoy quiet roads on the opposite shore. We had a spot right on the beach - wheels on the pebbles. wonderful.
Very beautiful campsite, with an exceptionally warm welcome as already described. Everything is clean and it is quiet. Fishing is no problem. Perfect spot.
The site has a great location and is very cozy, but above all, Anne makes it something special. Thank you, Anne, for the lovely day; we will see you again!
Perfect, very kind lady and beautiful location by the lake.
