Im Schwarzenfeld 2, 82481, Mittenwald
Been here?
This is the large parking area for the Karwendelbahn, with mountain views and a quiet location near a stream. Camping is expressly forbidden, and there are no services or bins. Mittenwald centre and the cable-car station are within walking distance, while payment costs 10€ for 24 hours and requires coins. A change machine is available above the parking area.

This is the parking area for the Karwendelbahn! A beautiful place. Camping is expressly prohibited! Particularly disgusting is the behavior of some ignorant people who shamelessly relieve themselves in the bushes. If littering continues, the GAP district authority will close the place. Toilets and waste disposal are available at the valley station; the adjacent bins are not for public use.
€10 for 24 hours, payable only in coins. No services, but close to the village and cable car. The little village is worth visiting. Very quiet night.
Beautiful parking area, a very large space on both sides, shaded for us. This little village is simply magnificent. You have to pay with coins; we will come back sometime. Valfred.
Very peaceful and quiet, definitely nicer than the nearby motorhome area, which I recommend visiting only for filling and emptying.
Very green parking area along a cycle path and close to town, very quiet. We spent one night there with several other motorhomes. The price was ten euros, but the machine was full; payment had to be made with coins. We would have happily stayed longer because of the wonderful walks. The two lakes are peaceful and beautiful. We really recommend this place!
Very good spot, with the possibility of setting up in the shade. Starting point for many hikes and summer tobogganing. Lively village, good ice cream... thank you to the municipality.
Very beautiful parking area. The only drawback is that the parking meter only accepts coins, whereas other town car parks can be paid for with EasyPark. Great starting point for the cable car a little higher up.
Perfect and quiet location! €10 per day, coins only. You can get change from the machine at the lifts just above the parking area, up some steps via a hiking access. All the photos are accurate. The grass changes depending on the time of year.
Mittenwald is the most beautiful place in Germany! ;) Plus this lovely spot, where the wonderful center, pubs, both lifts, and all activities are very close. Thank you; we always enjoy stopping here for a few days and having Kaiserschmarrn again! ;)
Quiet place, shaded areas, and the possibility of parking even large caravans.
What a great tip, thanks for the information.
We found this little spot last minute and it was perfect for a stop over. As already mentioned, you must have coins for the machine. Both areas were full of campers by the time we arrived quite late but we got a nice little spot with a view of the mountains behind. No services or bins.
A really beautiful place with a view of the Karwendel mountains, right by the cable car if you want, and with little traffic; you can walk straight into the lovely town! Unfortunately, we had bad luck: at night machines were collected from the parking area and workers arrived early because they were working on the road. €10, with no facilities and no bins, so take your rubbish with you! Only glass recycling bins.
Spent 2 nights there lots of hiking trails around as others have said it is only a car park so zero services. 1st photo I feel is not correct there is no grass there. 10/15 min walk into town ideal
It is just a parking area, but good for visiting the town and surrounding area.
We spent a very quiet night there, staying for 24 hours. For €10, everything was perfect! The machine says until midnight, but the ticket was issued for 24 hours from arrival. Very central, including for the town; everything was perfect for us. Thank you to the town of Mittenwald for the opportunity!
€10 for 24 hours. We stayed quietly and had enough space. About five minutes farther into town than from the main parking area.
We liked it here, and the ticket is valid for 24 hours from purchase. Contrary to what others have written, it does not end at midnight but after 24 hours.
Currently the change machine here is unavailable, but you can find one at the cable car entrance in the higher parking area, a five-minute walk away. I confirm the cost of €10, but a ticket purchased at any time always expires at midnight on the same day. No services, level, large enough for any motorhome, shaded.
The bridge is currently being renovated! It is a parking area, NOT a campsite. Camping is expressly PROHIBITED! You can also take your own rubbish with you!!! Follow the rules before such opportunities become fewer and fewer.
