Route des Glières, 74570, Thorens-Glières
Been here?
This very large parking area is in front of the Glières monument at altitude 1500, with wide-open mountain views. It is calm, especially at night, although hiking activities and visitors increase during the day. Clean toilets and washbasins are available at the adjoining monument. There are no other services, and the parking area is not cleared of snow in winter. Summer activities include hiking, while winter brings cross-country skiing and snowshoeing.

Still such a beautiful view and very few people. This is the third time I have come here; it is quiet and very open. No services.
Not cleared of snow in winter.
Magnificent place with beautiful walks for hiking or mountain biking.
Quiet place despite the crowds in August. We arrived at the end of the day at 5 p.m., with plenty of choice to find the ideal spot. Superb view of the monument and all the mountains. We were woken early by the gentle sound of cowbells. The trail to Pas du Roc starts a few kilometers farther down.
We spent one night camping with a motorhome and trailer. Men's and women's toilets, very clean. Magnificent view. Cows and their bells. Lots of spaces—hundreds. Lots of activity in the morning because hiking trails start here, but it is genuinely a great place!
Lots of spaces available during the first week of August. Clean toilets and sinks at the Resistance monument next to the parking area.
A peaceful night at the end of April, alone in the large parking area. Extremely quiet... magnificent. Fantastic!
A large parking area where you can spend a pleasant night. The Milky Way is magnificent from here. It is indeed recommended not to take all the spaces and to park properly, because hikers arrive early.
Great view, quiet at night. Park like the cars, diagonally, to avoid taking up three spaces; this will help prevent a motorhome ban in the future. Roadworks are underway and the road is closed on weekdays. Good walks nearby.
I completely agree with Prunelle regarding access. Roadworks on the descent toward Thorens, except on weekends, fortunately for us. Magnificent site. Worth visiting.
Very beautiful spaces. Large parking area with unobstructed views over the plateau and mountains. Few people at the end of summer. Perfect spot for resting.
