Been here?
This small parking area in central Blankenburg is a starting point for hiking and sightseeing, with the old town nearby and an upper section offering views of the castle. It has electricity but no water or waste disposal, and the current overnight price is reported as 20 Euro. Recent reports mention unreliable or poor-value electricity, noise from traffic and youths, and safety concerns. The Harz Hiking Badge 76 is accessible via a nearby trail to badge 74.

We had trouble finding the site because the sign does not indicate that there are more spaces further up. The electricity is a rip-off: I paid €1 for only 100 watts instead of 1,000 watts. We reported it to the tourist office! Teenagers were quite loud in the evening, so we could only sleep very late after they left; the night was then quiet. Parking can be paid for with the app only until 6 p.m., and then again from 8 a.m.
Beautiful place, but that is all that can be said. Dealers operate right in front of you. We did not feel safe, certainly not for €20.
Congratulations to the town of Blankenburg. This is how you keep motorhome travelers away!
Unfortunately, the same applies here: apparently there is no affordable overnight accommodation for motorhomes in Blankenburg. With this kind of service, it is simply outrageous. So nobody in this town will get any money from me, and I will drive somewhere I feel welcome.
Simply too loud!!!
Stay away from this rip-off site!
Far too loud, and €20 for a parking space?
Poor Blankenburg. No more interest in motorhomes. The situation could be solved differently, but they do not want that. We always liked coming here... not anymore.
At the parking meter you buy a ticket for €1 per half hour—coins only—then another €2.50 per person tourist tax. Electricity also requires coins; no fresh water, no wastewater disposal. One day/night for two people = €53. Next to it is a private motorhome site run by the snack-bar owner, which unfortunately we noticed too late.
Lovely place, clean and well maintained. There are two areas: one next to the café below and one higher up, which offers a beautiful view of the castle. Public toilets are available, but the café charges 50 cents. Electricity points are available upstairs at €1 per kWh. Price: €6 per day.
New and slightly elevated site with a great view of the castle. The site is well maintained and popular. However, some of the surrounding main roads are quite noisy at night. Ideal starting point for walks to the Devil’s Wall and elsewhere. Very close to the old town.
We spent a quiet night here with a great view. Thank you, Blankenburg.
Quiet, level, directly opposite the tourist information office. Pay a €6 parking fee at the meter, which accepts coins only. Beautiful starting point for hikes. Very quiet at night with a lovely view of the castle.
Excellent parking area; there were still teenagers up there until 8 p.m. After that it was really suitable for spending the night.
Nice, beautiful place. About 250 m from the “center.” Many vacant buildings. The village has steep streets, including the approach to this site. No terraces or anything like that! I saw one closed café. The “shopping street” is down below, then turn left behind Volksbank. No facilities. There are some at the wooden hut (coffee and some food, but another site is directly below). No waste disposal points except a small bin. Very noisy 24/7.
Park in the upper car park as it is flatter. Close to town. Okay for overnight.
Excellent site because it is inexpensive and, despite its very central location, the traffic noise was still tolerable in my opinion. The spaces are quite tight when all six are occupied. Blankenburg also has plenty to offer in terms of hiking, views and the castle. Clearly recommended. Only four stars because there is no service point, but at this price complaining would be silly.
Great site for little money. Meter accepts coins only. Very good for one night.
